Hi Ray,
I have talked with a teacher who uses the Activclassroom with some autistic students. Although I have not observed his class, he reports that his kids love to work on the board and it helps them focus better on the learning tasks. I'm sure there are several factors that have an impact, but this teacher saw an improvement in engagement immediately. Hopefully l can visit his classroom soon. Char

This might be a video that they would be interested in watching. It is about the Activclassroom with Special Needs Children.

Ray,
I am working with a school that is strictly special needs, and they are starting with Votes and a couple AB+2's in the next month or so... They will go school wide eventually. These children are considered more severe on the spectrum of having emotional and/or behavioral disabilities, and some students at this school have significant physcial challenges as well. (Almost all students that have challenges (such as autism) are mainstreamed in Nevada.) However, I will let you know how things go!

I work in a special school with autism and have worked with autism for and Promethean for ages and I find it really helps as you can add sounds to the flipcharts to help understanding, the children love the boards and they make the lessons more interesting and keep the children more motivated. I do use activprimary even though the children are P16, but it works really well.
feel free to ask anything else

I teach a traditional kindergarten classroom with several inclusion special needs students, one of which is Autistic. The board has been fantastic for him!!! It had been very dificult in the past to encourage him to write.--markers, caryons, chalk--anything. After watching the board for a couple of days he decided he was ready to write. It took no time at all for him to learn how to select colors and use the eraser tool (I do not use primary). He advanced very quickly to writing his name. I also use it for vocabulary development by opening an area of the library and allowing him to pull out pictures but he must name them. He also moved from rote counting to 1to1 correspondence by moving items across the board to the trash can. Last week I submitted a couple of flipcharts I am using for number and letter writing. I don't think they're posted yet. Since he loves cars, I made large numbers that are gray (road) and put green and red lights for the strokes. He moves cars along the road to make the numbers and letters. I keep his flipchart pages very simple so there are no distractions and the focus is on the desired task. Let me know if you think they're helpful!

Hi everyone,
I am looking into this, Promethean and Special Needs, I have been speaking to a lot of schools that find the Activote particularly useful for their children. This is because there are many ways for them to be used, i.e. if the child can't hold a pen, or speak, or has limited mobility, or is autistic (it is engaging). I have spoken to a lot of schools that have found this. As they have with the wand. Has anyone else found this?
