WHERE DO I FIND MY ACTIVINSPIRE SERIAL NUMBER?

Hi i've downloaded ActivInspire and want to put it on another computer. I had written down the ActivInspire serial number but have misplaced it, oh alright thrown it out. Where can I find it?

Solution:
The ActivInspire serial number is located in a hidden file called ‘inspire_license.xml’ that can be viewed in a text editor, or most web browsers
The file is a hidden file, and can be found in:
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Promethean\ActivInspire
To view hidden files in Windows XP:
1. Click on Start / Program Files / Accessories / Windows Explorer
2. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders


To view hidden files in Windows Vista:
1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK

Mac: (hard drive) \users\shared\Promethean\ActivInspire
To view hidden files in Mac OSX 10.5:
1. Open Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.app
2. Type the following:
# defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
# KillAll Finder
3. If you wish to reverse this, do the same as above, remove the ‘YES’ and type ‘NO’

Linux (Ubuntu): (hard drive) \etc\xdg\Promethean\ActivInspire
To view hidden files in Ubuntu:
1. Open ‘File Manager’, and select ‘Preferences’
2. In the ‘Views’ tab, ensure ‘Show hidden and backup files’ is selected

N.B On all 3 platforms, you will need to be logged onto the computer as a user who has permission to view hidden files. If you are unable to view hidden files after trying the above for your operating system, please contact your I.T support team.
