View Full Version : Crashing when searching resource library

Just upgraded to 1.2.13903 on my home Mac (still running 10.4.11). If I try to search the resource library Inspire crashes as soon as I click "Start Search" (or press return).

Are other people experiencing this?

Thanks,
Mark

did you reindex your resource library before searching?

How do you do that (index)?

use the context menu on the root of your resources to index whenever you like

it should also prompt you to index when you do the first search as well.

I'm crashing, too.

I went to the menu to index but I didn't see anything happen.

I didn't get a prompt, it just quit.

See screenshot (Mac) of index.

I had the same thing happen as Lisa - I wasn't prompted to index the first time, and when I did index, nothing seemed to happen. Then, when I searched, Inspire crashed. I've attached the error report. :(

I'm running OS 10.5.8 on a MacBook.

aargh, not good.
I'll take a look - I take it you've got v3 & all its resources on there as well as inspire & its resources??

Yes, I do. Thanks for looking!

Yep. I thought it could be something to do with indexing my large shared library, so I downloaded the featured Exploration resource pack and added it to the otherwise empty My Resources. I still had the same issue.

Thanks,
Mark

Hmmm. The good news is that I can now import from PDF! I've tested a couple of them. (Horizontal pages and vertical pages). So far so good on that one!

Yes, I've got all the new Inspire resources as well as the ones brought over from ActivStudio.

hi

we've found the problem & are rebuilding it for the mac. So don't update the mac just yet & we'll get the new one on there as soon as possible.

Hi! :)

You should be able to once again press your update button. This will download another copy of the software which will have this problem corrected. Simply install the new download over the old one!

We have quickly tried this on several machines and I will await your smilies saying its all working :)

Regards

Louise,
I downloaded the full Mac version at about 12:30 PM GMT yesterday which was before this problem was noticed and fixed - DO I NEED TO REDOWNLOAD THE FULL VERSION, or was this just an "update" problem?
thanks,
george

I also updated before the fix, too. But both times I used the update from the dashboard to install. Both worked but the second one fixed the search bug.

John,
My question was not clear - I updated my machine using update and things work as expected.

The issue is that we are installing Inspire on MANY machines which don't have any Promethean software currently installed. My intent on downloading the entire Mac version was to get the cleanest packages (and install instructions for the IT folks) since they will be installing Inspire, drivers and resources. The IT folks like to deal with .pkgs and disk files and don't want to have to respond interactively to the install questions and menus.

Hope this makes my intent clearer.

Ahhh :)

The answer would be yes then. The problem occured in all variants of the 1.2 package so it would be wise to download fresh copies, or ask users to update on first launch.

I downloaded last night. Click on check updates and it says that I have the latest version. How do I get the fix?

Which version do you have now?

I have 1.2.13903. If you downloaded last night, you should have the latest version. Is your resource library search not working?

If it says your on the latest you should be ok and resource searching should not crash the application. This was also a Mac OS only problem, so windows users will not need to update again anyway :)

I try to search, and it says I have to reindex the library, so I click to do so. It says it is reindexing but after it is finished I try to search and then ActivInspire freezes, is not responding and stays frozen, I have a pc. :(
