Several people here at my school are having trouble with having a weird border/band of color suddenly appearing at the top and bottom of all of their flipcharts now. I have tried looking at all of the settings I could think of to make that go away but have been unsuccessful so far. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to help them? Thanks so much!

Which software are you using? Activstudio or ActivInspire? Mac or PC?

This could have something to do with how your flipchart is filling the page. If you are viewing it on a wide screen monitor, you usually have bands of colour at the side (so the page will look fine when it is on your board, which is a standard size). See snapshot.
If you have the resource library or page browsers open, then the page 'squashes up' and you have the bands of colour at the top. As soon as you close the browser, this will go away.See second snapshot.
You can't do much about this - it's necessary so that the page displays properly when the browsers are closed without skewing the text or pictures. You can play about with changing to Fit Page Width etc but I wouldn't recommend this, as you often have to scroll your page then, and can't see it all on the board.

We use ActivStudio on PC's.

Typically, when you see a blue border at the top and bottom of your Activboard, that occurs when the flipchart was created "off board" while using a computer that is wide-screen. So when you show it on the Activboard which is not wide-screen, it tries to show all of it but to show the whole width it has spaces on the top and bottom. You may have noticed this same thing when a movie from a "theater" which was developed for wide screen is showing on your TV.
How to avoid that:
I always ensure that I develop my flipcharts in 1024 x 768 - period. That way when they are used on the Activboard, they fit perfectly.
You can make your Activstudio settings/preferences to always create that size automatically when you create a new flipchart.. But be aware that during creation "off board" you will then see a blue border on the left and right (if your computer is wide screen).

Another thing to look into is changing your "world color"
If you have changed your settings, as Lisa described above, but still find the "border" try this:
View>Customize>Settings>
Flipchart>World Color.
If you make the world color the same as your flipchart page, they blend seamlessly. Just remember that some things may get cut off if they are in the world and not on the page. This doesnt remove the "border", it just masks it.
To avoid all this, I like to keep my flps at 1024x768, like Lisa.
