I'm upgrading to Snow Leopard in the next few days and I'm just wondering if I'll run into any problems with ActivStudio 3.6. Does anyone know if ActivStudio 3.6 is compatible, or, is it likely to break? (Or at least not play nice).
Thanks !

I'm in the same position, NickNak. Did you (or anyone else) go ahead and install Snow Leopard? Any problems to note?
TIA.

I have it installed on my laptop right now, and have not seen any problems. I am still testing other software/features before I turn Snow Leopard loose on our teachers. But as of right now, I have seen no incompatibilities with any of Promethean's software running on 10.6

I upgraded to Snow Leopard and have one problem. Whenever I try to search resources the programme crashes - just shuts right down. It didn't do that before the upgrade and I don't know what to do to fix it.

Have you already installed Snow Leopard? I just installed it a few days ago and now I am having problems with the activinspire software. It loads fine however it freezes after a few minutes of using the program. I still working on the "why".

Since upgrading to Snow Leopart I cannot register my Activotes. I registered them a while back with Leopard but want to go back and add a couple more. When I click on register Activotes nothing happens.
Anyone else running SL having this problem?

Now, I have a problem. Several of students playing on Active Board and they do not remember what they did but now I have a circle of dots that follow the pen as it moves around. The circle flashes. I have tried everything but can not get rid of it. Any suggestions?

Could be something to do with "Gestures." See if there is something in the help about turning this on or off.

I hate to say it, but with Snow Leopard, ActivStudio seems rubbish.
Almost every command seems laggy, I can't search for resources, and when I use the text tool for typing, everything on the page keeps disappearing only to reappear after I close the text box.
I really hate using this progamme now as everything takes twice as long.
I'm seriously thinking about loading the windows version via Bootcamp or Parallels (I always thought the Windows version was a much better piece of software to start with).
Too bad :(

Surely the last of the last resorts, right? ;) But yeah, I have to agree - I have all of the same problems you've just listed. Perhaps I'm being ignorant, but I've not seen any mention of a future patch/upgrade from Promethean?

I haven't seen a single response to this problem from Promethean . . . . quite disappointing.
Since my original post, I've found something else broken that renders the software totally unusable for me.
Some text on a flipchart made on a Mac with SN is hideously small, and unreadable, when displayed on the Windows machines at school.
So far I've stopped doing stuff at home as I can't stomach buying a Windows OS just so I can make flipcharts (having vowed Microsoft would never get another penny from me).
Dunno what to do now.

According to what I've read on the forum, there isn't yet a release of ActivInspire that supports Snow Leopard. See this thread:
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10256&highlight=snow
But you are asking about ActivStudio so my GUESS is that the Snow-leopard support forthcoming is going to be for ActivInspire.

Lisa is correct.
Promethean are not planning to offer a release of Activstudio MAC v3 that is compatible with Snow Leopard.
ActivInspire will be fully compatible with Snow Leopard in a future update.

By effectively ending support for ActivStudio, Promethean is making life really hard for Mac users who do stuff at home on up-to-date kit and use old PCs at work.
Unfortunately, ActivInspire created materials won't work with ActivStudio (which the majority of schools I know still use). Not updating Activstudio will leave a good number of Mac users with no place to go (apart from to Microsoft to shell out for a Windows license).
I teach in two different schools, and often train teachers in other schools, none of these boards use ActivInspire. And according the the ICT techs I speak to, they have no intention of changing to Inspire while ActivStudio is working just fine and everyone knows how to use it (just as windows XP or Office 2003 won't be changed either).
Why not offer a 'save as' option to make Inspire backward compatible?

I had a similar problem prior to the Snow Leopard upgrade, and realised that it was down to a difference in default resolutions between my iMac at home, and [diabolical] RM school laptop. Most school Windows laptops tend to have a default resolution of 1024x768 pixels, so I changed my ActivStudio preferences on the Mac (ActivStudio Professional->Preferences->Flipchart) to 'Page Size: 1024x768'. Probably not the solution to your trouble, but worth a try!
As for ActivInspire, been looking it up and am still none the wiser after reading Promethean's blurb. None of the issues with Snow Leopard's ActivStudio are anything beyond frustrating glitches and irks, and I find it hard to see how a small update isn't a viable - or deserved - option. *Sigh*....

I was to ask that question too. I installed Snow Leopard and then installed the new Activ software (ActivInspire) and the Keyboard doesnt show up when I click on the option.
Know what's up?
Thanks.

I recently bought a computer with Snow Leopard. I am not able to create flipcharts in ActivStudio because when I try to put several textboxes on a page I can't. The first one disappears when I click to put on a second one. I am a trainer so I need to use ActivStudio rather than ActivInspire. Some of the teachers in my district don't have intel machines so that can 't use ActivInspire.

Concentrating on Inspire rather than on ActivStudio is probably Promethean's best bet. They are based on completely different architectures and Macs tend to use the latest os anyway.

I'm a fan of Inspire but our district hasn't made a conversion yet - pockets of people are using Inspire but most people are still using Activstudio,
I've run into a text tool problem with Activstudio on 10.6. If you create text then click elswhere on the page to make a second text box before closing the text pallette, the first text box disappears. If you are reading this and have 10.6 could you check it out and see if it's true for you and/or give a suggestion?
Thanks!
