Hi, this will be my first year with the Promethean Board in my class. I have ALOT to learn! So far I have been doing OK, or so I think! But I am very overwhelmed and nervous so I have a couple questions that i'd like to get some help with.

1. I want to set up a monthly lesson calendar where each day I will be able to place links to all the flipcharts I plan on using that day, week, or month. How do I link the flipcharts? Insert ...then what?

2. I am wondering how many of you save your flipcharts under my flipcharts or another location. I purchased a Mass Storage device because I have been building the lessons at home and plan on taking them to school on the storage device. Although Activstudio is installed on the storage device I do not save them there. I have created other subject folders outside of the Activstudio to save them in. Has anyone else done this? Any suggestions before I get to far in?

Thank you in advance!
Ali

I did this at the end of last school year and I am loving it!!

I adapted a flipchart that another user created that was a calender and linked it to "lesson pages". From the lesson pages I link to my flipcharts.

I am the school computer teacher so I see grades PreK-8. Here is my folder setup:

I use a 8 GB flash drive to store every thing and I keep a copy of my "master folder" at the computer at my desk.

My main folder is Active Items.

In that folder are two folders ; 09-10ActivSchool Year & ActivStudio. "09-10ActivSchool Year" is where I keep everything for this years lessons and "ActivStudio" is for everything else:other flipcharts, ideas, etc.

Inside the 09-10ActivSchool Year folder:

09-10 ActivCalanders folder:
This is kinda hard to explain. For example the August calendar flipchart opens to a calendar of August. You can click a button on each week that gives you a full page week view. Mine just has icons that show who is coming to the lab that day. You click on that classes icon and it opens up to that weeks Lesson Page for that class. The calender and lesson pages are on one flipchart and each month has a flipchart. There are links from the Lesson Page to the flipchart for that lesson.

Grade Level Flipchart Folders:
One folder for each grade. All of their flipcharts go in there.

AllSchoolFlipcharts folder:
The seating flipchart, lab rules and student password flipcharts are used by the whole school. These go in here.

I adapted my chart from charts by Cindy Wallace. Here is a link to her September flip chart:

I always open the calender flipchart to get to the lessons and link from there. I will try to upload my August calendar so you can try it. The lesson links won't work but everything else should.

If you go to your browser and find the file folder where you saved your lessons (mine is my flipcharts), you can drag the flipchart on to the page of the calendar. It will make a picture of the lesson that is resizable and in effect, embeds the flipchart in the calendar flipchart. The picture is an action object that opens the flipchart. If you go make changes to the flipchart, you will need to drag it out again and delete the old one. This is how I do all my lessons. The warm-up for the day, each day's lesson, and the answer key PDFs are all on one calendar page.

2nd item: Saving
My flipcharts are saved on my computer at school, on my computer at home, on a flash drive, and on a portable hard drive. I'm not losing those things! :)

Here is my September lesson plan flip chart. I will upload it in resources later today. You have to fill out a form there so it takes longer:)

Thank you everyone. I will be trying the linking today. Wish me luck! I'll try it both ways.

I've got my lessons in a folder outside of studio and alot on my desktop. I hate that we can't take them off of the desktop and put them into a combined chart. Will keep you posted!
