I am trying to use the revealer tool that I got from the gadgets resource pack and I can't get it to reveal the word under my object. What layer do the objects need to be at? Am I using the tool wrong does it just show a label?

Probably the most efficient way to show a label is to use the new caption feature in ActivInspire. That way you only have to deal with one object and not have to worry about layers.
To learn how this works, I'd check out the Activtip called "Caption Feature!"

I don't know if you have solved this problem but just in case you haven't (and because I have had the same question - you can check out my thread if you want) I'll attempt to answer it.
I think you have to make a revealer tool using the magic ink. The revealer in the resource library on its own is just an image.
To make the revealer tool;
1. drag two copies of the revealer 'image' onto the page. Ensure they are on the top layer
2. on one of the revealer 'image' use the magic ink to 'paint' or 'erase' the part you want to see through.
(Since the magic ink is a clear colour you wouldn't be able to see what you're erasing. so when I did it, I had a shape underneath the 'image' when I was erasing so that i can see what i've erased )
3. Drag the other 'image' over the first 'image' then 'group' them. ***I use this step to cover up the messy-ness of my clumsy erasing. The revealing will work without the second image on top of the first***
4. To test: Have a text or an image (which should be on the middle or the bottom layer) underneath an object (which should be on the top layer) and see through it with the revealer tool (on the top layer) you just made.
You don't have to use the revealer 'image' from the resource library. You can use anything to make this revealer tool.
Hope this wasn't too confusing. :o

The revealers in the resource packs were created using the Eraser from version3 - which is the equivalent of Magic Ink in Inspire.
They work over objects on the Top layer, including annotations which belong on that layer by default.
The new Magic Ink will also 'see through' annotations and objects on the top layer.
The object you want to reveal needs to be on a layer below the top layer.
