A new promethean board has just been installed in my room and I installed Activinspire on the new laptop. Everything loaded fine and works except the pens do not respond at all on the board. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Gotta ask - is there a cable connecting the laptop and the board?

Yes.:) You can view everything on the board clearly. The pens just do no respond at all. The only reaction I can get is a single beep when I place the pen over the calibrate spot. I does not allow me to calibrate the board though.

OK, start at the beginning. I hope you are on a PC, otherwise LisaS must step in. In the task tray (lower right hand of your screen) there should be an icon that sorta kinda looks like a white screen. When you hover over it, it should say ActivManager. Is it all white, or is there a big red X on it?

I had the same problem this week - the drivers were on the computer but really didn't install. I found the answer on prometheankb.com under update drivers. I went through the process two or three times and it finally worked. I couldn't figure out why it happened but wondered if it was because the computer was connected to the board during the install process??

Actually, there need to be two cables.....video and the USB cable.

The Activemanager in the task bar of my PC does have a red X on it. The pens are not responding at all on the board. Please help with any suggestions. My PC has XP.

For anyone that may have unresponsive pens, we just had 8 new boards installed and 3 of them had bad USB cables. This was causing the computer not to recognize the board. We changed the cables and all of the boards are working, pens and all[clap].
