At our school, we use a multitude of Active software, one of the problems is brought about where the teacher forgets what version of Active they saved a flipchart in.

Can each program save its flipchart with a more specific name?

We use ActivPrimary 1/2 and ActivStudio 2. it would be helpful if flipcharts could be saved in this manner respectively;

flipchart.ap1
flipchart.ap2
flipchart.as2

using different file extensions for different software versions.

Is there a reason why this was not implemented?

Thanks

Hi

We would always recommend that people are using the most up to date software. When AS1 was superseded by AS2 had we implemented such a system, then this would have gone against our advice of everyone upgrading. The leap to AS2 was a considerable one with the different interface that AS2 offered compared with its predecessor of 6+ years old.

With AP2 the "change" for the user is not so great. There are some lovely new features, and the resources are superb, but nobody should feel that they need to relearn the software and so again we would advocate that everyone should be upgrading to AP2.

If your school were using AS2 and AP2 then this problem should not arise as both are interchangeable. AP2 flps. should still be accessible by AP1, but my advice would be upgrade as a school and take advantage of all that AP2 has to offer.

Hope this helps.+wave+

I agree with Margaret wholeheartedly on this one. AP1 is great, but AP2 is GREAT![clap] {} [clap] Fantastic new resources, some updates and super new features - I really like the sound recorder which has huge potential. Well worth upgrading - and the learning curve from AP1 to AP2 is not a steep one - if you're already using AS2, it will be very straighforward.

Hi,

If memory serves correctly, you should be able to setup these file extentions yourself. Give it a try through the "File Types" tab in Tools > Folder Options, which is accessible through My Computer.

It probably won't set the default extention in each piece of software, though :(

Best I can do.
Dave.
