Hi, Firstly If the moderator needs to place this question elswhere please feel free to do so.
We are replacing all our ActivStudio Software with Inspire over the summer and I was looking at ways of creating and delivering little how to videos in a neat and compact way. As part of this I was looking at the Activtips area of Promethean Planet. www.Prometheanplanet.com/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=93 (http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=93)
and saw a player neatly sorted with tabs on the side for tips on Inspire, Studio and Primary. This looks an extremely elegant solution for short videos for staff Dev as we roll out Inspire. Does anyone know what the player is called and Where it is available from?
Many thanks
Graham

Even though it is not tabbed, you can access the video clips on iTunes. I download them to my iTouch and watch them at my convenience. But anyone can subscribe to and watch the clips right on iTunes.

Are you interested in the videos themselves or just the player?
If not the videos, is there a suggestion for what needs to be in the Activtips that is NOT there?

Thanks Lisa D and Excelteacher, it was the player I was interested in.
As part of staff dev I always draw colleagues attention to the Promeathean Planet and the forum. I thought the tabbed playlist would be an elegant way of organising Staff Dev instructional video content for our VLE, ActivInspire software for the Whiteboards (all of which are Promethean), Visualiser, Video streamer etc.
Alternatively the content of player could be set up for solely for Activinspire, The tabs could be could be Getting Started with Inspire, The Dashboard, Configuring Inspire for you, Creating and the using included resources, etc etc.
Re the Video content on the player, I haven't seen them all yet but what I have is great, over the next couple of days I'll be more in a postion to comment fairly. But I have no intention of criticising, actually the tips section was inspiring (sorry) in ways I could develop content and keep training material together and make it easily available from one place. Rather than having separate Web pages (sections) for staff to sift through.
No matter if the player is not available its already helped me in thinking about some new ways of making the resources available at College, but it would be nice!

Hello Grahamon,
What you are looking for is a customized flash player with menus.
You can get that from here:
http://www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/flvplayerpro/
http://www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/flvplayerpro/example1.html
you can make your own playlist using an xml interface.
It is not free. It is about $60
Another option if you want to go opensource is to use Moodle's flash player module or to use Mahara open source porfolio as a VLE platform.

When you get your videos up, please share with the Planet community, as they sound interesting!
You may also want to check out this option:

Thanks Saha and Dkootman, Wow both really good (and they are!) but it is the tabbed aspect that in this instance I am looking for, so that things can be grouped together intutitively for staff, once you have more than say 10 videos it just becomes a long list to trawl through. Any other suggestions very welcome if the current player is not available.
Cheers Graham

Eventually found one, in case anyone else is looking for a media player with organised play lists, content being simply added to nested folders. One that looks as though it will do the job is.
http://www.flashnifties.com/media_gallery.php only $40.
My thanks for all of your suggestions and help.

Graham,
Happy that you were able to find some options both online and here on the forum.
I know that when we were creating that player, we looked at some of those options online, then changed up a bit of the code ourselves. I'm happy you like it and that you found something similar to use for yourself.
Like Dave mentioned, when you have your stuff up and running post a link to it here on the forum, so we can go check it out!
