We are in the process of putting Windows 7 thorugh extensive tests with our software, servers, etc... We have found that both ActivStudio and ActivInspire are not compatible with Windows 7. The software installs fine, but when you open a flipchart it puts it to a blue CMOS screen. Any improvements or releases to take care of this issue?

Thanks, Chad

Glad someone else has asked this as I was just wondering about this issue. I have recently installed the Windows 7 RC on my home PC but haven't had a chance to try ActivInspire on it yet. I'll give it a go this weekend and see if it also crashes.

I personally think that this is a crucial issue as I can see a lot of schools upgrading to Windows 7 as it runs considerably better than Vista on older computers and is quite a bit more secure than XP.

I am also very interested in this issue as we are about to reimage our three labs and plan to use Windows 7. Any comments or advise from the developers will be appreciated......Thanks, Jerrie

Although we haven't yet done any 'Official' testing of ActivInspire with Windows 7, I can confirm that I personally have tried it on 2 different machines running the Windows 7 RC build without any problems.

As for Activstudio there was an issue that caused a BSOD in the earlier Windows Beta's but I understand this seems to have been fixed by Microsoft in the Latest RC Build and that also now seems to run fine.

My initial tests with ActivInspire and Window 7 have shown it to work and import old flipcharts just fine.

Mine works (Inspire) but will not allow me to install the latest patch upgrade for Inspire on my Windows 7 test machine. I get "Error reading setup initialization file"

Being on half term this week I have also had some time to try instaling and running ActivInspire on Windows 7. It worked absolutely fine, I had the same message when I tried to install the update but when i clicked ok I got a windows message saying this program may hae not installed correctly with the option to click to install with the recommended setting which I duly did and it installed fine after that. I'm guessing it probably just needed to be run as an administrator.

My HP Mini 2133 with Windows 7 RC runs Inspire, updated to 1.1, and detects an Activhub.

lgallant, you might want to check that you have the latest Activdriver on your machine...

Please note that Promethean support for Windows 7 is 'work in progress'.

I managed to get a machine that have Vista Drivers. Install Windows 7 with necessary patches.

Try to load the latest version of ActivInspire with 22 language support which download from Prometheanplanet.com from both EU and US site, but failed.

Try to load the older version that I have downloaded months ago, it manage to start up. It also manage to import the resource library to ActivInspire.

Will update everyone with future news.

I am having an issue with my hub. I cannot access the system tray at school because they don't let us. I wanted to update the drivers on my hub but I plugged it into my home laptop (Windows 7 Inspire 1.4) and the hubs did not even come up in the system tray. I tried two of them... nothing.

Any ideas?

Hello, Melissa.

Which Activhub are you using? Activhub 2.4GHz? What is your firmware version?

At the same time, which version of ActivInspire (Personal or Professional)

I am having an issue with my hub. I cannot access the system tray at school because they don't let us. I wanted to update the drivers on my hub but I plugged it into my home laptop (Windows 7 Inspire 1.4) and the hubs did not even come up in the system tray. I tried two of them... nothing.

I am not sure how to tell what hub I have. I can tell you that my board, slate, and votes are three years old. My votes and hub used to work off this hub. I would like to update the firmware because it is fresh out of the box. It has never been used.

I think I may have fixed the problem at home. I updated to the 64 bit driver and then the hub showed up in the system tray. I updated both hubs to 5.10 build 2. I will have to wait until I get to school to see if it works with the slate (we think we may have a bad hub but I wanted to make sure it was all updated before we come to that conclusion) When you try to register a slate to it registration comes up on the slate but does not "take" the registration. It just reverts back to enter PIN. The slate worked fine with a different hub so that is how we are coming to the conclusion about hub being bad.

I will keep you posted.
