I have a lot of teachers in my district that use Prometheans, and we've installed the new ActivInspire software and asked them to switch over (I'm the techie). It's a much nicer interface, but I'm very frustrated with the screen recorder at this point. I have no problem captured video, but the audio is non-existent!!! I have tried many different settings and configurations. I have no problem capturing audio with the sound recorder, and I use a number of other applications to capture audio with a microphone (on a PC). I've searched through the resources and forums and still haven't found an answer. Help!

You've probably tried this & I don't mean to insult your intelligence but just in case:D

have you gone into the main settings/recordings & ensured that record audio is ticked?

Yes, I've done that. Unless there's something hidden deep somewhere, I've tried everything I can think of.

Curious.

The Screen Recorder in ActivInspire (on Windows) is the exact same one from ActivStudio. Therefore if it works in Studio, it should also work in Inspire on the same system.

Try comparing the Screen Recorder audio settings in both applications, especially the Audio Format settings which you get at directly from the Screen Recorder Toolbox Settings Menu.

I've gone back into ActivStudio on the same computer and am able to capture both video and audio using the flip recorder. When I move to ActivInspire and verify that the sound settings are identical, I still get only video and no audio in my screen recordings. This is one of the most frustrating things I've encountered in a long while!

This is also completely baffling me

Do your video and audio settings match those shown in the attached flipchart?

I am a seasoned Promethean user and I can not get the sound recorder to work on my Mac with Inspire either and I've done the updates and everything. I just didn't want anyone to think he was the only one struggling with this. I haven't tried the video recorder since my last update with Inspire from a week ago or so - but I couldn't get the video recorder to work at all either previously, and I had been a champ with using it in Activstudio... I probably need to go through all my settings with Tech Support and make sure everything is perfect.

FYI, I was able to record both sound and video using my Mac with ActivInspire. I have version 1.1 and my Mac is running 10.5.6.

Well now... Hmmm... I have a Macbook with dual platforms, but I have Vista on the PC side and Leopard on the Mac side. I need to load the software on the PC side, I mainly use my Mac as a Mac... but I want to see if I can get it all to work correctly on my PC side of my Macbook. That will at least help me know that there is something not set correctly on the Mac. :D I'm not a technology guru, so I don't know really what to look for that I am doing wrong.

My audio and video settings match the ones you've indicated on the flipchart. I tried using the screen recorder on another PC system and had no luck there either ... but I didn't have time to play with adjusting any settings on that system. I will try to do a clean install on my laptop sometime today and see if I have any success there.

My teachers are excited by the possibilities of what they could do with the screen recorder, but I can't seem to make it work yet!

I did a clean install of ActivInspire to my laptop today, and got audio with video when I used the screen recorder ... BEFORE I did the upgrade to v 1.1.11426 !!!!! Once I downloaded and installed the upgrade, I was back to no audio when using the screen recorder. I'm not sure if someone in tech support monitors these forums, but it would seem there's a bug in the upgrade:mad:

Thanks for this great feedback. It will be investigated.

Rest assured that there are many Promethean staff of all disciplines monitoring the forum, including development, tech support and test engineers.

Is there an update on the audio issue? I am working on a flipchart for a training and would like to embed the clips in my flichart. TIA

I am also having the same problem. I went through this whole thread and checked all my settings. They are correct. I can get audio when I do a screen recording with ActivStudio but not with ActivInspire. I am on a PC with Windows XP service pack 2, ActivInspire 1.1.11426. Our district is planning to upgrade to ActivInspire this summer. I am working on training flipcharts so that teachers will be prepared. Will this issue be fixed in the next release and when might we expect the next release to be available?

this problem is fixed in the next release. Unfortunately I don't have a definate date for when that will be.

Louise,
That is awesome news.[clap] I am looking forward to it! But to get my presentation done, I downloaded Jing and imported the clip.
