Will the later release of Inspire include a feature for creating charts and tables like you can do in Word? A lot of people would love that option.

This is one thing I've shown teachers to answer their request for tables. I've attached a sample flipchart in Inspire.
Basically, to create a 2 by 2 table, I create 4 boxes and use the connect tool to connect them. Then you can resize as necessary. If I want to resize the entire table, select the whole table and resize using the lower right handle. If I just want to resize the bottom 2 cells of the table, I select those and resize as desired. Etc.
I can put this 4 cell "table" in my resource library, and make a 3 by 3, 4 by 4, 4 by 2, etc, whatever is needed.
Not perfect, but a better work around now that we have the connector tool.

There has been a lot of discussion about creating tables on the forums over the years - the earliest I can find came from Mountain way back in 2004. Many people have suggested cut and paste or using the camera tools and now we have the connector tool to provide a work-around.
Creating a grid (by any means) is not what most people mean however - making a table on the fly is the killer tool that people often ask for - and are quite disappointed when they find that one does not yet exist. There have been arguments in the past questioning the validity (not quite the right word) of including a table maker in Activ software.
The galling thing is, however, that the Smartypants brigade can point to v10 of their notebook software and show seamless integration of tables to display text and graphics.
I'm almost certain that new developments have been hinted at for Inspire and I think that Prime Minister Brown and President Obama would both welcome table insertion too.

Perhaps even more galling, at least to Maths teachers, is that MathType works interactively with the SMART Notebook softwarel (see the table below, from the MathType website). It doesn't yet work with ActivInspire.
When I mentioned to Promethean some months ago that SMARD had interactivity with MathType whist Promethean doesn't, I was advised "watch this space". Well I did, and I am still watching ...
