What are the coolest uses you have thought of for using the paint bucket? If you have an example page, please share! :D

I like putting answers in textboxes in a color and pouring paint the same color. Then putting in another color to reveal answers.

There was a cool idea floated in this thread - we didn't go any further with it at the time, but I am sure there is some good use for this 'cookie cutter' effect..
I am playing with the idea of tivaevae patterns at the moment.

This is a tidy version of one that I did on the fly - which probably shows the real strength of the software .i.e. serving a specific purpose as it arises in the classroom.
My 7 year-olds had made thumb pots and painted a base coat, ready for the final decorating session. I just wanted to run through colours that would work with their base coat and colours that would not work well - bearing in mind that every 7 year-old always wants to use every colour they can lay hands on.
So I quickly drew a pot on the board and used as a range of colours to 'decorate' it. Then I grouped and copied the pot a number of times. Different children then used the wand and the fill tool to try out different combinations so that we could see the effect and make our judgements.
Then we got stuck in...
Not really possible without the software.

First off, Lisa, cool thread idea. We should do one of these every week for each of the tools.
Here is a page where I use the Paint Bucket for a cool effect. You click on the Orange boxes with the Paint Bucket in Black. It hides the text, but also shows the hidden text in Orange. So students would vote, then after you use the paint bucket they would see "Why" and have to come up and write their reasoning.

1. Used it in games like Blockbuster, to colour the hexagons after a question has been answered.
2. Poured white paint on text on a white page to make a really quick cloze activity
3. Put class names on the board - when they have finished their work, they can pour any colour of paint on their name. Then you can have a quick glance to see who has finished and who needs more time.
4. I like the ideas from Hilary and Kevin of using it in patterns and art work. Inspire has got some Mondrian templates under Activities and Templates> Activities> Art Activities which would look very effective when used with the fill tool.

I like using it to highlight keywords or new vocabulary.

I used it to fill nouns, verbs, and adjectives in a sentence.

I have different types of color wheels that I use when teaching color mixing.
I have students come to the Activboard and use the color window to select/create the proper color and then use the bucket to fill the correct space, while the students at their tables mix paints and paint their own color wheels.[clap]
Teaching color has never been so easy and fun. {}

I use it as a self-check reveal for flip chart practice pages. Students have to draw lines to connect objects to the correct term. They then use the fill tool to reveal the correct answers. I just draw lines in the same color as the background matching the correct answers (in the attached case - white on white) then when the kids fill the page with a color, the white lines show up. The first page of the attached flip chart doesn't use the feature but the second and third pages do.
