Liking Active Inspire but cannot find a button or command for "Unlock" once something has been locked onto the background/layer. The key shortcut does not toggle for lock or unlock. It does not appear as a right click command either. Is this a missinf feature or bug.
If anyone know how to unlock an object in Active Inspire I would love to hear from you.

If you are on the page where that object resides, open the Object Browser window. You will see all objects on the page and if they are locked or unlocked. Click on the object and use the little menu icon to unlock that object. It's a really cool way to see everything and what's locked/unlocked as well as hidden/unhidden.
See attached screenshot.

I'd like to still have the feature of being able to right-click and unlock, or right-click and cut a locked object (as we could in V3).
I love the Object Browser, but it's nice to save the clicks when I just want to quickly get rid of something.

Ok, see if this helps. Learning along with you...
When I am in the Profile "Authoring" I see a blue icon in the top of the screen that allows me to toggle in and out of design mode. If you click on that icon and turn it red, then you can edit locked items. Click on the item, and icons will appear, the menu-looking one gives you the right click options. And I think you can edit the icons to add the ones you want so you don't even have to go to the drop down.
See screenshot.

Yes, Lisa you can add to your "object edit toolbar" by going into edit - profiles- commands - pull down main toolbar box to show "marquee handles" - select the edit feature you want - click add - done Then the icon for the edit action ie the lock for "locking" should show up whenever you click on an object to edit it. Nice customisation![clap]

Thanks Lisa, I like this. I've always stayed out of Design Mode before - in my experience, it's easy to forget that it's on and then get frustrated when stuff doesn't work! But this is nice and easy. Cheers.

I think Design Mode in Inspire is much clearer and consistent than in version 3.
Shall we start a feature "Learn along with Lisa"? You put so much into this forum Lisa. Thank you.

The questions help me learn it better. The forum is great! Proud to be a part of it!:p

Follow these steps to unlock an object on ActivInspire. Turn off the "design mode" button (blue button top right on page - it should turn red) and then you can right click on the object and in the menu that appears you can uncheck "locked".:)

I don't know about you, but I am glad that you can't EASILY unlock an object when in Presentation mode. I had a lot of kids who would unlock things all the time just to unlock them...

Hi,
I have a promethean board and use ActivStudio Professional. What is the cost for active Inspire? If I purchase this, will my created flipcharts from ActivStudio be able to be used?
thanks

If you own a Studio license, you should be able to upgrade for free. Go to: http://www.prometheanplanet.com/gserver.php?show=conForm.127&outputArea=2&nav=17014 . You will need your Studio license number. If you open Studio, you can find the number under help, about.

Your flipcharts from previous versions of ActivStudio will open in Inspire. However, anything you create in Inspire will only open in Inspire and not older versions of the software. Don't let that stop you from upgrading though. Once you get used to the new software, you'll see its well worth it and you won't be likely to return to the old version :)

Thank you all so much. I was about to melt into a puddle of tears because I couldn't unlock something. I'll have to remember that old design mode option. I don't go for training until 2/24...until then I'm working with my SmartBoard knowledge and an adventurous spirit! :D
