My first whiteboard purchase was from Smart... big mistake. AND then activboard was made known to us and we now have 10 of them. I just downloaded ActiveInspire and it does talk to the SmartBoard. However, I need to calibrate the smart board. Any suggestions as to how I can do this?

Thanks.

Is there some sort of button in the Smartboard tray to start up the calibration? How did you do it before?

Thanks for the comment. I haven't used the SmartBoard for about a year or so. I do remember doing something on the pen tray... that will probably help.. just need a jog of the mind. Thanks!

Hold the two buttons down on the Smart tool tray (right click and keyboard buttons?) . I vaguely remember that is how you can do it. Alternatively there must be a driver button for the Smartboard in the system tray. I would imagine that you could calibrate it from there.

yea the Smart driver has a "Orient" option that will do the same things as calibrate... right click on the Smartdriver icon in the system tray and "poke" around (hehe poke like with your finger... get it?? hehe)

sorry I am easily amused...

I was going to comment but I thought it must have been an April Fool trick.

Thanks for all of your feedback. I will try to orient it on Monday when I get back to school. Will post my results. Hopefully, I can now get another board in action. After using the Activboards and associated software none of the teachers want to touch the smartboard.. so it has been Idle for about a year. Now that Inspire is out and I have installed it perhaps the teachers will again use the board. Thanks for all of your help.
Have a nice weekend!

i wonder if Smart has to change "orient" to something else when selling in Asian markets... I know my Korean friends hate when south-east asians are lumped into "oriental" countries...

On your calibration:
If you don't have luck with the other suggestions, I woud download the smartboard software just to calibrate with it if there is a software way to do it. Then close the smartboard software and use activstudio/inspire. I ran into a similar problem with a math teacher trying out Easiteach software on her Activboard. We needed to calibrate within Activstudio but then Easiteach worked fine. (btw - Easiteach wasn't my idea... but it's my job to help... :-))

On a side note I was looking at smartboard lessons site out of curiousity and there was a bold title saying "activate" something or other -- I thought that was curious :) I was able to pull in a smartbook lesson into Inspire and was able to move objects, etc. It wasn't just a static import. Didn't play much more than that yet with it but I'm glad that I can encourage smart users to try activstudio and Inspire because of the cross-use.

Me -- I like activstudio! and Inspire! and am glad other board users can make the switch... I hope they do!... :-)

I agree. Not only can they (otherboard users) now use ActivInspire, they can use all of the great flipcharts and resources packs just like any Promethean user. I think this can eventually make our base of lessons grow even stronger!
