Adding Links

I've always added links as text or an image icon. I'm wondering what choosing Action Object in the Add Link As portion of the Insert File dialogue box does. I tried Action Object after having specified a video file on my system, but nothing happened when I clicked OK ... nothing appeared on the page.

Which mode are you working in, Gene?

In Design mode, there will be a red square; clicking in it will open your video. In Presentation mode, you won't see anything on the page, but move your mouse around and you'll find the curved arrow in the same area, and clicking there will open your video. If you disable actions, you can reposition the Action Object on your page.

Ah, thanks, that worked. I see it's just transparent on the page.

The Action Object technique is good for adding links to different parts of an image eg on a map of the US you could put an action object on each state which would reveal an image of that state's capital.
