Hi,

Looking from a Math Teacher point of view, we use a lot of Math Symbol, like; plus symbol and divide symbol.

While we are using Text Edit Toolbox, under Math, although all our teacher install from the same CD, but some of us have missing symbol.

Wonder how can we over come this issue. Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

Do you see that little triangle on the text window between the question mark and the "x?"

Try clicking on the on the triangle which should extend or shorten the window. Perhaps theirs is not yet extended.

Hi, Lisa.

I done that. Just that I have missing Symbol on a computer compare to another.

I can reinstall the software, but I wonder is there a easiler way to over come it.

Thanks.

Hello David

On my laptop, the Text Edit Toolbox says (Ansi) where yours says (Unicode). I'm no computer language expert, but perhaps that might explain why your colleague's computer offers a maths symbol that yours doesn't.

Which symbol is missing? Perhaps it's a symbol that Unicode does not recognise.

Why don't you create a one-page flipchart (like the one attached, which is available in the Math Resource Pack) that has all of the symbols you have access to but your fellow teachers do not. Then the others can use Drag a Copy to pull these symbols to the center of their flipchart pages to set up a Math problem. It's a little extra work for you, but at least everyone will be standardized.

Hello, invinoveritas

On my system, I have all the necessary symbol. But some of my teacher don't. If yours' Text Edit Toolbox (Ansi) and mine is Text Edit Toolbox says (Unicode), both have the symbol, then it is not that issue.

But thanks for the help.:)

David

It might be due to different character sets installed in Windows.

FYI - the reason for this is probably because 'Multiple Language Text Edit Support' is selected in the Activ Language Settings. Useful if you have additional language modules installed in your computer, but can cause problems with text if those flipcharts are opened on another computer...
