Hi,

I'm new here ... have only work with Activeboards for a short time and as supporter ... I have installed 4 boards ver. 3.5 from cds (2), haven't updated since there is no internet on the machines.

The machines are running xp sp 2 ... nothing special about them, just the adobe suite is installed.

1 works without any problems ... but 3 of them get the same error ... "Runtime error 48, file not found fgwv32" ... pics included ... The error comes when i try to open a new flipchart ...

I have tried to remove/deinstall all ... and then making a new install ... more than once :c/ ... I've tried logging on as a different user ... if i search for the file i find it in windows/system32 ... as a dll file (see pics) ...

I'm working at a school in Germany hence the german in the screen shots (pics of a activeboard with a mobile phone), I'm danish and writing in english ... a bit funny ... :cP

So, anybody got any ideas ?!? ...

Thomas

I thought so too ... have talked to a Herrn Dorn ...

He didn't even listen to the hole error description before he told me that the software from them okay is and that it was my problem :c/ ... He wouldn't listen at all ... And that i should find out what different is of the last computer ?!? ... like I didn't try that ... couldn't get a word in, so i told him thank you ... And i'm now relying on you guys !

That wasn't vey helpful of our Tech Support:mad: My apologies. Unfortunately I'm not technical enough to go inot this although I wonder whether a file path has been corrupted, if the file exists. I'll see if any of our guys can help you.

True he wasn't very helpfull ...

He is kind of right that the problem has something to do with windows, but that he isn't ready to hear me through isn't very proffessional ... but you can of course do nothing about it ...

The file is there ... i tried to copy it from the computer that works ... i tried regsvr32 and it doesn't work on any of them ... I only tried it with this file ...

As far as I can find this file has something to do with ms visual basic ...

FGWVB32.DLL
Win32 dynamic link library

I will proberly have to reinstall all of the machines because it goes on air thursday morning (today is tuesday!) .... But i would like to know why it doesn't work so that I could fix it if it was to come again ...

As far as i know that is not a file that we ship with our software so am unsure why that error is occuring.

I will make some enquires here to see if i can find out more...

Neil.

Hi Niel ...

I didn't think that you did, but i would like to know why it gives this error ...

I now have 2 working and 3 not working ... progress :cP

This might be a long shot but worth a try...

In your Activstudio application folder "C:\Program Files\Activ Software\ActivstudioPE3" you should find a file called "Regfiles.vbs" - try running this which will re-register files associated with the Activstudio...

Looks like i was wrong about us shipping that file, don't know how i missed it.
After another check i found we actually do ship it as part of the Activstudio install.:o

Hi Niel ...

Cool ... i will try that tomorrow when the classrooms are emty ... Thanks!!!!

I have the same error on 2 more machines now ... And I noticed that it gives an error on the first load of active studio PE .... "Runtime error 91, object variable or with block variable not set" ... then it locks up and will have to be terminated ... It only comes on the first start of ASPE after the install and restart ... after that it starts normally and gives the other runtime error on "new flipchart" ...

I looking forward to coming to work tomorrow :cD

This error may be happening because another dll is not registered on your system.
Try Neils suggestion of running regfiles.vbs.

What steps did you take to get it working on the machines where it was originally failing?

Still waiting on some emty classroom :c/ ...

First i tried to deinstall ... and then install ... I tried to copy the file from one of the working installations ... i tried to register the file ... and unregister ... tried to make a new admin account and deinstall and reinstall ... thats what i remember ... and then i kinda gave up hope ...

I'm gonna run the file within half an hour when all goes to plan ... which it never does *damn you, Murphy* ...

I downloaded the new activinpire this morning ... and it said on the planet that i should be able to register it with my present seriel number ... but it doesn't seem to like it ?!? ... i can send the number to you on an email if you want to try it, i won't post it open :cP

You need to enter your serial number on the correct download web page and it should then email you an ActivInspire serial number.
The v3 serial number will not work in ActivInspire application directly. Also when you enter the v3 serial on the web page note that it is case sensitive for alphanumeric entry.

Tried the regfiles.vbs and it didn't make any difference ... I looked into the files, and the FGWVB32.DLL wasn't there ...

Is there anyway I can get the file to give me the information succes/failure pro file instead of just "completed" ?!? ... i now nothing of vbs ...

Will try the active license converter :cP ... thanx again ...

Have changed the regfiles.vbs file so that the commands are without "/s" is ... I then get all the reg replys ... everything gives okay except "fxtls432.dll" ... it gives an error that it loads but it cannot be registered ... but it also gives this error on the ones that work :c/ ...

I'm getting nowhere fast :c/ ...

I now have the seriel for activeInspire ... thanx again ;c)

I now have to more computer with the error ... the one started with the runtime error 91 and the other one without ?!? ...

Are there any services there should be active ?!? ... at the installation or when you run the program ?!? ... anything other than the activedriverthingy ?!? ...

I'm loosing hair ... and fast ... okay ... i'm bald anyway ... ;c) ... any new ideas guys ?!?

The fgwvb32.dll is not a registered dll which is why it's not in the vbs file list. However as Nigel said it could have been another dll somewhere that was not correctly registered. These kinds of problems are never easy to track down or diagnose. The vbs file is a kind of catch all to re-register all the necessary dll's belonging to Activstudio and normally fixes this kind of problem.

Since this has not worked i'm not sure what else to try...

Update ... found some more things that didn't help ...

Made a clean install and installed the 3.7 update before starting ASPE ... no change ... compared the processes that runs in regedit ... local machine/sw../ms.../windows/current ver..../RUN ... nothing ...

Would still like to know if there are any processes/services that are important ... could be something that they locked down here ?!?

installed the latest directx just in case ... it is the only thing that isn't installed on a clean install, just wanted the exclude it ...

tomorrow i will try to install sp3 on xp ... allthough it means that it will not run on the network here :c/ ... but I have to try it ...

have learned som new curses in german ... allthough i knew a lot to begin with :cP

But I still need help ... So if anybody has any ideas ... I'm all ears ...

I will try to install the ActiveInspire on on of the bad ones tomorrow ... if i don't get fired for not having them all up and running ... I have 4 running and 4 not ...

It's a bad solution while the teachers here will get the course in the ASPE 3.7 and not the AI ... :c/ ... and it does look a lot different and so it the way it's build ...

Are there any german language files yet for ActiveInspire ?!?

Non English language versions of Inspire will be launched in a couple of months.
