???? Hi, does anyone know why activstudio does not retain realtime (real player) files?
I've created a number of flipcharts containing real player files, which can be used only on the computer they have been created on, as soon as I try to open the flipchart on a different machine the real player files do not play; although I have saved these files in a folder with the flipchart and the file path points to this folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like you have not embedded the video in the flipchart.
In v3 each time you make a link to a video file (or any other file for that matter), you have the option to 'Store file in flipchart'. If you click this, then a copy of the video will be saved in the flipchart, making this portable. If you choose not to do this, then the program will not find the video if you try the flipchart on another computer.
You could try this: Open your flipchart on the computer where the video resides, then click: Main Toolbox > Main Menu > Flipchart > Embed File Actions. This will convert all file actions to embedded, by copying your videos into the flipchart.

Thanks for your prompt reply to my question, Nigel.
I did select the 'store file in flipchart" option every time. However, I have tried your suggestion of embedding the files through the main toolbox and the Real Player files have failed to work on my work laptop once more.:confused:

Please attach a flipchart that you are having problems with and I'll take a look.

OK,
This flipchart is only missing one embedded file on Page 11, which is this...
NASA's KSNN™ - What is gravity.mov
The reason this file is not embedded is because of the trademark character in the filename. It looks like Studio cannot handle this character. Interestingly, neither can ActivInspire. So we'll get this issue raised.
For now, your solution is to rename the original file to remove the trademark character, then re-add it into the flipchart.
As far as the rest of the movies in this flipchart, they are all Flash videos (.FLV). I have got the FLV Player installed on my machine and they all play perfectly from the flipchart links. You can download FLV Player here...

Remember that your target audience MUST have a video player installed that is capable of playing FLV files AND that is associated with the .flv file extension, otherwise they won't play when actioned from Studio.

Hello Nigel.
I have followed your advise and all my computers (home, work laptop and connected classroom) are happily playing the flv files.
Thank you very much for your patience and help over the last few day.[clap][clap][clap]
