Is it me or does the spell check simply change the colour of mispelled words to red and then leave me to manually change them back to black (or whatever) when I have corrected them? Seems a long winded way of doing things.

Hi,

You probably have the setting enabled to automatically show misspelled words.
This is just like word in that respect.

However if you want to actually spellcheck and get the correction hints then either right click the text and
select the spellcheck option or press F7 to check the entire Flipchart.

not really like word 'cos word underlines, not changes the colour of the text. The only way I can change the colour of the word back is manually changing the colour after i have corrected. I have no spell check option on right click nor does F7 do anything.

I typed 'rong', just to test it, and it turned red when exited the text tool (would be better indicated in real time but . . . .) I changed it to 'wrong' and manually changed the colour to black. Now when I type 'wrong' i get this the 'w' in black but the 'rong' in red. This has been released a bit early I think

Yes I know word does not show it in red. The application is showing you that it thinks that the text is spelt wrong.

Are you running the Windows version?

Here is a screenshot showing the option to spellcheck.

I have discovered the actual spell checking facility is only available in the pro version - not the personal. I have found the appropriate tools. However, highlighting the potential misspelling by actually changing the font colour is a pain as it has to be manually changed back. At least word removes the underline when the word is corrected and you can safely ignore it knowing it won't print if the error isn't really an error after all

I am having the same problem with spellchecking in Inspire Pro. Any ActivStudio flipchart I open now has red words everywhere and spellcheck doesn't fix them, even after adding them as true words. Is it me or does each new release mess up the formatting of previous versions in one way or another, rendering the new releases worthless in opening older flipcharts? I mentioned this in the beta version feedback, and I'm sure others had to have also. I won't be using Inspire for opening any ActivStudio flipcharts and may not for new ones if the next version is going to do the same thing....this is a shame.

Can anyone from Promethean explain this, please?

Alright, I just discovered that if you turn off highlighting of mispelled words in the preferences, it fixes all of the formatting issues. Not only are the words still their original color, but the paragraph formatting magically seems to fix itself. If you have a flipchart open and turn the highlighting on in preferences, it messes your entire paragraph up. This shouldn't be a default feature on a new release! IF I were to recommend this to anyone, I would have to explain this process to them right away. I wish the spell check worked like Word and didn't mess up the rest of the formatting. So far, I'm very hesitant in recommending this upgrade until some fixes come out.

Hi there. Thanks for your feedback.
In a future update to Inspire, the spellchecking will identify mis-spelled words using red wavy underlining as in other applications (eg. Word).

Never mind! Have discovered that the F7 option I was using does the whole flipchart and using the right hand click over text box menu does just that text box!! Sorry!!

I'm not getting this option when I right-click over the text box - I only want to check the text IN THAT BOX...
What should I be doing differently?
Thanks,
Hilary

OK - I have figured it out (without much help from Inspire's Help menu :( )
I wasn’t getting all the "spellcheck text" option when I right-clicked on the text box.
So I went into Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and did a Repair on ActivInspire.
That fixed the problem, but for a while I thought I was going mad.
