I.m running InspireV1 Professional and expected the compass to have been fixed from the beta software. Having tested thoroughly it seems the ESSENTIAL reflect function is not available . Maths teachers will be expecting the same functionality as in version3 or better.
I'm looking forward to testing out the enhancements.
Can anybody tell me if version3 and Inspire1 can run independently on the same machine? Do they both map to the same resource folders? I'm ready for the switch to Inspire but some teachers may need a transition period.
On behalf of maths techers I hope that steps are in place to integrate the word add-in software MATHS TYPE (http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathtype/) with Inspire so that editing of maths expressions within flipcharts can take place.
Come on maths teachers back me up!

v3 & inspire can run on the same machine
Inspire will pick up & find v3 resource folders that already exist, but v3 won't pick up on anything added outside of its resource areas - is shared resources & my resources.
v3 can't open inspire flipcharts but inspire can open v3 flipcharts

Thanks for the most helpful reply Loiuse. When I take training sessions I know this versions issue will be raised.
Regarding the compass I still cannot find in InspirePro1 the options to REFLECT, SHOW ANGLE and SHOW CENTRE for the compass tool that we are used to in AS3. These are much used functions of the compass and the REFLECT action is essential for maths teachers in order to show constructions. In beta testing I found your post (with daigram attachment) regarding the compass but you made no mention of whether the right click options in AS3 are available in Inspire. If this functionality is not in place yet I hope it will be a priority for the next update.????

I agree. I had an embarrasing lesson recently where I practiced using the compass in V3 and then went to do the lesson in inspire and couldn't figure out what was going on!

I reported the compass fault in the beta testing and expected this basic functionality to be resolved in the official release. Can any Promethean folk shed some light on this? The new Activtips Inspire clip on the compass tool only covers the basic drawing of a circle with no mention made of the crucial capability to reflect the compass.
Maths teachers will also require that circles from the shapes menu be drawn from the centre as was the case in Version3. The present configuration in Inspire is not helpful for maths teachers. It would also be good to provide a show centre option for drawing circles.
Without these and other fix measures in place I will be holding back from planning staff training.
To end on a positive note I am re-assured that the development of functionality, reliability and quality of the software is ongoing.

Hi there. Thanks for the feedback.
A fully featured compass, and the ability to create shapes from the centre outwards will both be in a near-future release of Inspire.
