I am going to be presenting the board to our staff in a meeting on Tuesday of next week. I want to show them some of the tricks and fun things the board can do. I am a math teacher but think it should be general stuff that can be applied to any subject. Has anyone made/seen a presentation that shows this?

I presented numerous times last year as a staff developer and this year for teachers. Try going the route of involving them in an actual mini-lesson. If you have the slate or votes, incorporate them. That way you are showing HOW to use it as you MODEL a lesson.

Make it an "easier" Math lesson (maybe a primary lesson/3rd grade). Try pulling a lesson from the Planet and adding or tweaking it so that you do not have to reinvent the wheel. Voting devices are a great way to get adults involved!

A vote slide regarding what they found to be the most interesting or fascinating aspect of the lesson provides you some valuable feedback.................have fun and good luck!

Hello kat2800,

I've only just read your question but I'm interested in how it went. Did you present a mini lesson as suggested?

I am a Technology Coordinator at an Australian primary school and we just got our Activboards late last year. We had one session with the Promethean representative but I haven't been asked to share any of my knowledge with the staff ... yet. I am looking forward to this though. :p

Since then all the teachers have had a little play with it and of course, want to learn more. :o
Next term, we have a Parent Forum on Interactive White Boards with the parents, and I thought some of your learning might help us in our journey too.

Also, I am offering a weekly Technology session open to all staff members, based on what they'd like to learn more about. I'm anticipating that they will want to know more about using the IWB.
I'm thinking of ...
* Sharing some of my own flipcharts and how I used them.
* Showing the teachers a variety of different flipcharts for different Key Learning Areas (subjects) to give them an idea of the scope of possibilities.

I'm in contact with another school in our area who have IWBs in every classroom (lucky things! We only have two in our library). They have offered to share their flipcharts that they have created (Kinder to Year 6) which is very generous.

What do you think? Can you help?????

Thanks +wave+

Hello Kat2800.

If you're looking for some great Maths voting flipcharts then we have a good selection in the Learner Response section (http://www.prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.15874) (for both Elementary and Middle School) within the Resources menu.

They have been created for the UK curriculum but could easily be adapted to State standards or other curriculums.
