Hi there

I have a problem with the personal folders in the Resource Library in Activprimary.

When I open the Resource Library and click on the 'personal' icon, all I see in the list is 'Collections'. I can drag images, etc. into this folder.

However, when I open the Activresource manager, many more folders are visible (e.g. 'My images', 'My flipcharts', etc.). The images I dragged into the 'Collections' folder are in the 'My collections' folder in the resource manager.

If I move the images from the 'My collections' folder to the 'My images' folder (or any other folder), I can no longer access them in Activprimary, as only the 'Collections' folder is visible.

I would like to save resources in different folders, like 'My images' so they are better organised.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!
Jenny

P.S. If I go to the Shared resources icon in the Resource Library, I can see other folders, so I'm confused as to why this isn't the same for the personal resources.

Only some of the folders are used automatically in primary - the shapes folder is used by the shape tray & the collections folder is used by the resources tray, for example.
You could use your images folder but you would just need to use your other location button to browse to it from the resource tray. However, it should remember the location you browsed to so it would be there by default next time you used the other location option.

Thank you, Louise - that's helpful to know.

Seems a bit odd that AP has the extra folders if it doesn't use them - it confused me anyway!

I did notice that in the lovely new Inspire version, all these folders are visible. Looking forward to the full version of Inspire being released! :-/

Thanks
Jenny

I think the installer sets up the same folder structure as Activstudio where you can see all the folders in the resource library. But you're right it is confusing. We just like to set little challenges.:D:D

Hi Jenny,

David is right that the folder structure is emulated from AS. The reason that the "collections" folder is used and not the "images" folder for example is that we were keen to be able to offer backgrounds, images, and different types of images in one folder ie creating a story for example and having all the assets in one folder.

If you would like to change the structure of the folders you can "cheat" - if you go into design mode (click on the Promethean Man and then click on "his friend" just along to the left) you can create a whole set of folders and call them whatever you want.

By clicking on the library icon when in Design mode you will see the option to create a new folder by clicking on the "two folders".

If you do that by first identifying where you would like to place this folder you can then set up you own folder structure.

Failing that you can create a whole new library by clicking on the "individual" icon which is in fact the Personal Library area.

Just for your information - people rarely venture into this area within the "My Documents" area..... you maybe one of a very few :D
