I'm using Activstuio3 v3.7.19: I'm having a problem trying to insert video placholders. I have downloaded and saved several videos from Discovery Ed. Streaming. They are saved as Windows Media Files. When I right click and select Insert video placeholder.... select the appropriate video.. .the placeholder pops up and the video automatically starts playing.... I check the boxes next to start automatically, and video controller and then click OK. After clicking OK the video disappears and all that is left is a solid black box. When I hold the cursor over the black box the action arrow appears. However, when I click where the arrow is the black box disappears and nothing happens. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have been able to insert video placeholders in order to include animated gifs and it works fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Go back and try downloading a few in Quicktime. That's the only way I can get files from Discovery Education (UnitedStreaming) to play when embedded in a flipchart.

I download my steaming videos and save them in "my documents". Then I take an object in my flipchart ie a train, go to properties, action and open embedded file (whatever you named the video). This always works. I only use the video placeholder to add animated gifs.

Make sure that you change your settings before downloading your video from Discovery Ed. You will see a tab under the video thumnail. Click on that tab (labeled: media settings) and select Quicktime and then save. Your placeholders should now work with these videos. Hope this helps!
