Hello.
This question has come to my mind. How can we prevent changes to Original Flipchart content in AP?
Nowaday we share our filpchart on the server and even on our computer. But it never fail to surprise us when we turn our back while the rest is working on my PC or the copy that I left on the server. Worst part is they overwrite my flipchart accidently, which I spend hours to create it.
I have try to convert the file to read-only rights, but there are always some others proofed to be more clever by removing the read-only rights and fail to rename what they want to save.
Thanks in advance.

The "Publish" option in Activstudio prevents people from Saving changes to a flipchart, with a number of restrictions that can be selected to prevent people from taking content from the flipchart.
See this thread for a more detailed description of the options http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6487&highlight=publish
I can't find the Publish option in AP - maybe it is there? Someone.. ????

The Publish feature is not part of Primary v3 but it will be available to the Primary interface within ActivInspire.
As a stop gap, you could always modify the Permissions on the flipcharts you want to protect. This is available by right clicking on the file in Windows Explorer, choosing 'Properties', then the 'Security' tab on the Properties Dialog.

Hello, Nigel.
Thank you for your information.
I manage to get to the page that you mention, but I really don't know what to do next.
I guess there isn't any other people that I can deny since either administrator, system, or myself.

Why not create the flipchart in Studio and use the publish function. It can still be opened in Primary.
The other option might be to store the flipcharts in an area on your network where only you have saving rights.

I'd save a copy of the flipcharts on my flashdrive and then I'd always have an "original" copy so I could save the flipchart on the network again if it was altered by someone else.
In fact, I'm so crazy that I have my flipcharts on my home computer, on a flash drive, on my school computer's hard drive, AND on the network. I'm not taking chances! :D

Another thought! Submit the flipcharts to Planet! Then everyone can find it and NO one can change it there!

Hi, David.
It is really depend on from which prospective are we looking from.
As a Technical staff, normally, I will suggest whatever you had mention. Especially, when I have ActivPrimary, Activstudio and ActivStudio Expression Edition on the same machine.
As a Teaching staff, which school only have Activprimary, it is not possible. Unless the teaching know me and I offer my helps.
But I like your second suggestion, which all network administrators will think otherwise.

Hi, Holli.
Guess you miss out Internet Web Storage. That is the best place that you can access it anywhere, as long as you have a internet connection.
