I have a list of topics for a professional development presentation. The topics could be covered in any order, so I am creating a menu page at the front of the flipchart. For each topic, I want to go to certain page on the flipchart. I know how to do this if the text box or graphic is separate objects. My problem is that I have my menu of topics as a bulleted list. Is there a way to connect an action to a portion of highlighted text. In a web page or Microsoft Word file, I'd highlight the text and then create a link. Do I need to separate each item in the bulleted list to do this in ActivStudio?

There is currently no way to make a word or section within a text object have an action. Any action applies to the whole text object.
Options:
i) (as you suggest) break up your text object into multiple text objects and provide each with the correct page action OR
ii) add some rectangle shapes with actions. Overlay these over the particular words or phrases in your text objects. Then make them invisible. The actions continue to work on invisible objects.
You may want to group the whole lot together once authored, to prevent something from straying when moving the objects.

Thank you for clarifying this for me. It helps me to know I wasn't missing something. I will use the techniques you suggest.
I'd like to see this capability as an enhancement in some future version someday. :)
Along the same lines, I haven't found a way to add an action to a group of objects. For example I have a graphic that is an image of a video camera as well as the words video clip underneath. When the user clicks either the graphic or the word, I'd like to launch the associated video clip. I tried grouping the words and image together, but then when I go to properties, I don't have the option of setting an action.

Try using the camera tool to take a picture of the image and the text together. Then it will be a single object and you can give it an action. Or give the item the action before you group them.

If you Insert a link as an Action Object, it will put an invisible link on the page. The link will show as a red rectangle outline in Design Mode. You can then put the link over anything - image, piece of text etc. In this way you can have several links on the same object.
