Over break three quarters of the teachers at my site got their first activeboards!!! [clap] While this is awesome, I'm the unofficial tech person so I've been having 1-3 hours everyday this week helping them get started and resolving cord issues etc.

The problem.... Two days before break my boss rewarded me with a set of activotes!!!! I read the little book and registered and named everything with no problem. This week one of the aides from another site came by and said she needed to put a barcode on the box. When I got them back she had renumbered each activote with a different number. She also picked them randomly out the the case so they arn't in the same order as before. I finally just deleated all the devices and reregistered them using her cronological number system. When I tried to rename each device however, half of them will recognize the new name, roughly one fourth revert back to the orginal promethean number and one fourth say the first number that I orginally put in. I registered them in sequentlal order but when I light then up the names arn't in the name order. I would like them to show from left to right 65-79. ( of course, she didn't give the primary teacher 1-32...those went to a sixth grade class... grrrrrr) I probably need to call tech support, but I'm deadheading so many other tech problems from the rest of the staff that I can't seem to carve out time before they close everyday. could somebody please take pity on me and write me out instructions. My kids are so excited and it sucks for them to see them and then not get to use them everyday....:( Thanks in advance!

Hi
First, as usual just check you have the latest drivers and software etc.
However, I think this is more to do with naming. There are a couple of ways of explaing this but basically the best way to really name the devices is through the software not thoriugh the registration file - though it seems the best way there...
So I have attached a document i recently wrote for another customer (hadn't had chance to post before now) but think may help you. It goes through using named mode and the User database. I would put the numbers you want ot use into the User database and follow the rest of the instructions. Seems longer but will give you the know-how to name them in all sorts of ways...See if this helps. Let me know.

Emma you rock! I just got home and you totally made my day! This just goes to show that there are few spots in life where a dark blemish doesn't lead to something positive. Everyone in our district only uses the annonimous setting and I'm thinking this is because they don't know how to name anything. I'll let you know tomorrow how it went and send out your flier to everyone else. I was so upset and now I feel so much better!!! Thank you so much!

Dear Emma! It worked like a charm. your directions are easy to follow and perfect! The kids were so excited this morning and it gave me some awesome insight on a few things that I thought they had down but obviously after this morning we need to work on it some more. My only problem was when I tried to switch to using my activslate. It is now not reading it. I opened the activeslate 2.4GHz little bar thing and clicked on the icon so it had the little "I'm working" lines but it still doens't work. Any thoughts???? Thanks, Beth+wave+

Thank you for you directions, where is the driver icon?

Driver Icon? Also, great but if I want to share the set of votes I need a standard naming convention at the hub not in the database that is on the teacher''s computer? Isnt there some easier way to rename the votes that will put them in the sequential order that I touch them? Some of the new set s that I have done recently have played nice and named in the order that I activated the buttons but not always the case with the previous sets? Anxious to try resetting the hub if I can figure out where the driver icon is?

Hope that I am not being snotty, not the intent, just frustrated with naming the voters with teachers who then look at me like I am crazy when I have to stumble around correcting them one at a time?
