As always Chris, great stuff. I really like how some of the numbers go in and others do not. So simple, yet so many applications!

Absolutely, this does not have to be numbers, some further ideas

shapes, quadrilaterals stay out others go in
shapes, llines of symmetry stay out others go in
key words, topic words stay out others go in
equations, those whose solution is 3 stay out others go in
you could go on and on here....
but the idea for me would be do about 3 or 4 of the items, then ask the students what they thought would happen next.... provoke discussion and reasoning
