Trouble Using Activotes

I received a set of 32 Activotes. I have managed to register the devices. I have also been able to test the devices - they all test fine. When I go into Activstudio, I have the little Select Activote Session icon on my tool bar.

Last week, I saw a demonstration. When the icon was clicked a little set of yellow boxes appeared at the top of the screen to show the votes. When I click the icon with the USB hub plugged in, nothing happens.

Is there a step I should take in between registering the devices and clicking the http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3056/3101265540_165db88cd0.jpg?v=0 icon.

If you're voting over your desktop, the first time you click the voting icon you will get a panel asking how you want to use the votes: named, anonymous or demo mode. It will also ask you to specify how many handsets you are using. Once you've set all that, click the Activote icon and a row og grey icons should appear at the top of the screen. They will turn yellow as each handset sends a vote.

I have figured out that I need to log off of Active Studio all together, plug in the hub, log back in. It then usually will go into anonymous mode. Today I had a problem though. I would select the activote from my tool box and my boxes would come up grey. They would hardly let anyone vote. My batteries are fine, they worked yesterday. Today only a few would vote at random. It also would not calculate the answers correctly. I put it away and hope that tomorrow they go to the other end of their bipolar session. Wish me luck! Desiree'

I have them working in anonymous mode as of last week. I really didn't do anything with the over the winter break. I started setting up students and am going to try named mode soon. We did really well voting and pasting the results on the flip chart. I don't know why you're getting the gray boxes, though. Good luck. It seems to take a bit of patience. I also had luck looking at the Support Knowledgebase. You might want to look there, too.
