Hi,

I have some teachers created some games with Game Maker (http://www.yoyogames.com/make). They have thought of getting Activote, but wonder how can their make use of the Activote with their Game Maker game since they are in two different platform?

Please advice. Thank in advance.

Why not just use the votes on top of the Game Maker application?
Just open up studio and close any open flipcharts, so you only see the toolbar. Go to the Game Maker website, then click on the Activote button.

As Scott says - ad-hoc voting is desktop mode is ready to go out of the box - and incredibly easy.

But the perfect way to do this is to us the Expression / Vote SDK from:

www.prometheanplanet.com/pdn

... and use this to integrate the devices directly as inputs into the software.

A more advanced Game Maker 7 user with some programming skill should be able to do this. You should ask the users asking for this to look at the forum and see if the user can recruit a local developer to explore this with them. A more advanced student studying computer Science could do it as a project. Make educational games for kids!

Making this connection between Expression and a new world of gaming type interactivity is exactly the type of innovation the Promethean Developer Network is for!

Game Maker supports the use of both specially programmed DLLs and specialized Game Maker extension files created with a separate editor (http://www.yoyogames.com/extensions) which can contain DLLs, Libraries, GML scripts and any other desired resource. This allows users of Game Maker to add new features and functions to the program using GML or a compiled language such as C++ or Delphi. Several websites have been created since the addition of extensions in version 7.0 of the program to let users upload and share their extensions including a dedicated section of the GMC (http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showforum=33) and also a section of YoYo Games (http://www.yoyogames.com/resources/browse/8).

Hi, Scott.

Thank you. That is what I am think to. But there are games with question that is random. How can we identify the questions and answers after we export our answer?

David,

You are right. If you are voting on top of a website, it is made much more for formative assessment rather than something you want to export.

But when you use Expression, they will keep all the results in this mode. If you keep a "cheat sheet" while doing the questions, when you export you will know what Q1 is, Q2, etc.

David,

If you don't have a set of Expression, yes you need some. They are so cool and have so many great applications. Only to get better with 4.0! :)

Hi, Scott.

The keywords is "will keep all the results in this mode". I guess this is what I am looking forward to.
