I found Wordle recently...
it takes text or blogs/rss feeds and generates a graphic...

I put more information on the blog. I'd be interested how you might use it.

I also tried the Old English Magna Carta
The idea of "One Land" clearly shines though!

Google seems to be obsessed with itself and its applications!
Also "reliability" seems prominent - perhaps they are having problems?
this is how worldle reads the Google Blog

I used it in class as part of "Myself" topic. The kids wrote down all the things that were most important to them and then had to put them in order( seven groups)! They then typed in the most important things 7 times each, the next set 6 times etc. They were then able to use this to design their own personal Wordle - some amazing results!

That's cool. Perhaps if students wrote a short biography, they could create a wordle with the most frequent words. Could help them with writing with more interesting and descriptive language.

What a fantastic tool! I played with the text of Wilfred Owen's poem Dulce et Decorum Est - see the hyperlink below... and some Keywords for Protein Synthesis.
Students could create their own graphic prompts for Keywords, Glossaries, vocabulary lists, names, goals, favourite things....

It reminds me of something I worked on a few years back - Word Fractals.
I've put this in a flipchart - add your own keywords / text and watch the screen be covered with your words. Click to change background. Could be really good with ACTIVexpression - especially if there was a quick copy to clipboard option.

I tape-recorded an Aussie mate at a barbeque the other day, turned his speech into text, and put it into Wordle. The graphic is attached.

You need to join the Developer Network and MAKE IT!
The SDKs are there to do it!

Mark - Just found this post. Love Wordle.
It can really help those visual learners.
I can't wait to pass it along to all the teachers in my area.

And now that I have taken some time to play, I have found a great resource for American History teachers out there: http://www.americanrhetoric.com/top100speechesall.html
This website has the top 100 speeches of all time in America on it, and you can also download sound clips to accompany your Wordles!

Ben - Thanks for the resource. I like the idea of having sound and Woodle together, for both visual and auditory learners.
I passed this site onto my wife who teachers High School English, and here is what she is using tomorrow for her Transcendentalism unit!
