I have found it time consuming to enter questions for ACTIVote quizes. I have found it equally time consuming to enter them in Excel and import them. However, there is a better / faster way.
1. Three fast choices here:
a. Put the question inside a table in Word, you can copy the table and paste it into the flipchart page as an image.
b. If the file is a .pdf (Acrobat) file, use the Acrobat camera tool to take a "picture" of the question and paste it into the flipchart page as an image.
c. Finally, you can use the ACTIVstudio software camera tool to take a "picture" of the question and paste it into the flipchart page as an image.
2. Right-click on the "picture (image)" that you just pasted into your flipchart page and select Activote > Question Settings.
3. Set the settings for the correct answer, etc., advance to a new flipchart page, and return to step one as many times as you need to.

This is great for paper pencil multiple choice tests that need a little ACTIVation! Plus it saves you some paper pencil pushing time grading it. Enjoy all of the new free time you will have to work at everything else you are behind on.

Hi Tony

Neat idea but the disadvantage is that if you wish to export to Excel, the question text won't be exported.

If you have the questions already in Word, or you type them into Word, you have two options:

1. Copy and paste into Questionmaster.

2. Drag and drop onto the flipchart page ensuring the question, each answer option and the question letters are kept as separate text objects, then right click on the page and choose Activote Question Settings to set up the right/wrong answers etc.

Finally if you're going to type the questions anyway, why not just type directly onto the flipchart page keeping separate text objects as in 2 above, and right click on the page for the Activote settings. This is a good method for including questions within a teaching flipchart.

For me, the question not exporting to Excel is unimportant because I can print the filpchart with several slides per page and boom, I have the questions to look at. Most of what I work with is in a pdf format, so I have the option of either spending more time typing it into question master and organizing it, typing it in seperate text boxes, using the quiz wiz., or taking a picture of the question and selecting the correct answer from the right-click menu options. Maybe I am just slow, but with the limited time I have, I need to spend it looking at the results of my data instead of entering it in. I guess it is a matter of personal priority. It would be helpful to me if Promethean could streamline the import of questions from Word or Excel. Maybe you could allow the user to select an import location for the questions. Either way, for me the easiest, fastest, and most effective way to build tests from old test files is the image option. I appologize for the bluntness of my original statement. It was during a period of time where several emergencies and many stresses hit all at once. Among them, an emergency surgery to save my wife's life. I appreciate your advice. Thank You!

I just made a flip chart using the state released test questions. I just used the camera tool to separate each question onto its own page. That way I am assured that they are getting familiar with the visual format as well as the style of questioning.

I'm not a big fan of the question maker because I like to use the Activote images from the resource library. That is time consuming, though.

T, I hope your wife is doing well...

She is much better thank you. Our state unfortunately doesn't release test question samples. We get a database called UTIPS that our students can take practice tests in. It's pretty cool though.
