Hi,

Does anyone happen to know how to put a flash spinner permanently into a flipchart?

A few months back I created a flipchart called "Wheel of Learning." In it, the game uses a spinner that I found on the Planet. Currently, to play the game you have to go to page two of the flipchart and click "Wheel" in the game's "Host Controls" in order to bring in the spinner. Once the spinner is up, it often has to be resized and moved to the correct location.

I'm in the process of updating the game a bit, and was wondering if someone knew a way that I could already have the spinner open and in place on each of the gameboards? I've gotten a few emails from people who have a hard time getting the spinner to open or move to the correct location, and I thought this would make the game more "user friendly." I saw this done on a flipchart called "Unequal_spinners," but I wasn't quite sure how to do the same type of thing on my flipchart.

Thank you for your help.

You can insert a video placeholder and set it to the size you would like it to be. It's a great game thanks for trying to make it even easier for teachers to use. Since you are tweaking anyway I was thinking you might want to use drag a copy for your coins so they could have an endless supply.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the reply Htemske,

I just tried using the Insert Flash Placeholder, and it worked - sort of. The spinner inserted into my flipchart, but the spinning motion is MUCH more choppy than it is when I just bring up the flash file within the flipchart.

Any ideas why, or how I can fix it? Thanks.

PS: Thank you for the suggestions about using "drag a copy" on the coins. That is one of the things I'm updating. The other has to do with fixing a glitch on page 2. When students press the letters, the letters are suppose to disappear. For some reason they're not working correctly on page 2 but they do it on the other pages. Thanks for your encouragement and I'm glad you like the game!

Strange! I tool the exact same spinner and was able to embed it into a new flipchart and it worked great. Whenever I embed the same spinner into the "Wheel of Learning" flipchart, it is very choppy. The flipchart does have a large number of actions assigned (mainly, each letter can appear and disappear - including unused letters that are off the game board) but I wouldn't have thought that would interfere with the flash file. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!????

I've checked this out on my PC and the same thing happens - when there are lots of objects / actions on an activ studio page it really seems to slow the embeded flash down.

What about putting all the letters on another page that people could move over to the game page? That would only have the few letters in the riddle on the page and the spinner.

Thanks Dan and Heather!

Heather, that's an interesting idea about just using one page for the letters. I'll give it a try and see how it

Dan, thanks for your feedback. I use your random name picker in class just about every day.

Well, after several hours of tinkering with the Wheel of Learning flipchart, I decided not to embed the spinner afterall. Even after deleting more that half of the action links in the game, I just wasn't satisfied with the choppiness of the embedded spinner, and decided to keep the "linked" spinner instead. I did, however, fix the glitch that I mentioned, and also added the "drag a copy" feature to the money.

If you're interested, here is a link to the improved version of the game.
