I have a large pencil mark on my board. I tried removing it delicately with water/cloth but still left grey mark. Any suggestions?

We were told at our training workshop that we could use Goo-gone to clean marker marks off of the board. I would guess this would work on pencil marks also. We were told by the instructor to not use anything abrasive on the board because it would scratch it.

The kid-tested surface of the board is very durable. I would suggest using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on it. If you decide to use a liquid cleaner, make sure you spray it on a cleaning rag or paper towel and not directly onto the board. If liquid drips down in the plastic casing where some of the wiring is located, it could affect the function of the board. I hope this helps! :)

A damp cloth with a drop of washing up liquid works on most things. Do avoid using excessive moisture and strong cleaners.

I was told specifically not use Goo-Gone. We were told to use Expo Dry Erase Board Cleaner, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Windex, or a smiliar product.

I would try to use one of those Windex wipes.
The reason you want to stay away from those harsh cleaners is that over time they will remove the non-glare surface on the board. One time, it shouldn't be a problem though. So I would start of with the light stuff, and work you way up until you have it taken off.

Have you thought of using a rubber (UK) eraser(US)?

You should stay away from cleaners like Goo Gone, 409 or any heavy cleaners its not recommended. I was told and have used Simple Green on our boards. Goo Gone will etch out the surface of the board and 409 can cause the board to get dull. This surface needs to be glossy and clean to give off a sharp image. I would also discourage use of dry eraser makers since this will discolor the board overtime. Learn to use the board and use it everyday and you will never have to use dry eraser markers. If someone uses permanent marker then use a dry eraser marker over it and then wipe clean. I would also post signs on the boards for newbie’s or subs stating your rules of the boards. As for pencil Simple Green should do the trick. I hope the pencil didn’t put a big scratch in the surface of the board. Inform whoever cleans the room of this information.

Cleaning Promethean Boards
For normal dry wipe markers use Sanford Expo Towelettes 81850.
Do not use a board rubber.
• For permanent markers use Sanford spray cleaner 81803.
You should be able to obtain these products from an office supplies company.
A polish with standard household spray polish will restore the smooth writing
surface after cleaning.
