Hi, I am new on this forum and was wondering if any members have installed the ActivStudio programe for the promethean whiteboard on their home computers?
If so i wanted to know:
- how big is the file size?
Please contact me as I am desperate to get it on to my laptop to prepare a lesson I have on Moday which I will be observed on.
many thanks :)
Hello,
I don't think the application is that large. The resources are the larger file. When you install it will tell you how much space is needed before you click install.
Flipcharts are relatively small files as well. They get larger when you add video, sound and photos.
I would do the install. I think you will find that the whole thing doesn't take that much space and having it on your home laptop for preparation will make life so much easier!

Hi Janice,
I was wondering if anyone who had it on their computer could actually send me the application as i do not have it on my home computer. I really need to install it before Monday so that i can prepare a lesson for Monday. So if you have it, it would be great if you could let me know and then we could swap emails. If possible.

The application file can't be sent in an e-mail. There is a download on Promethean Planet but I'm not sure if that includes everything (I recall a thread about this on the forum) or whether it asks you for serial numbers. Your best bet is usually to get the installation CD from someone at school. I hate to be the bearer of back news but I'm not sure you are going to be able to pull it off before Monday.

thanks, well if i can just get the download link that would be great. I have sorted everything out almost, but i thought it would look good if i had something up on the whiteboard and showed that i was using that in my lesson.
Could you paste the link in here or send it to pm....
well i might be able to pull it off if i have loads of other resources, which i have already sorted out, so i am okay in that area. It is just the ICT concept that i am worried about.

You could always downlaod the student edition from the promethwean site as a temporary measure - it's basic but would probably do the trick - either that or you need to get up ealry tomorrow and do it in work before you start!
good luck with your lesson. :)

You can download the program from Planet: Support > Software Upgrades
You will need a serial number. Also, the program is not that large, however the resources may take up to 500mb of additional storage. The installation for Activstudio and its resources should not be a problem unless the hard drive on your laptop is running low on space.
One last note, if you are downloading the program you will need to have at least 30-45 minutes available for the entire download depending on your Internet connection.

Please note if your school has bought Activstudio with some of our hardware, you are allowed to put it on any computer for preparation purposes only while you are employed by that school. The software should be deleted when you leave.
Use the software CD that your school has to install the software.
