Background tick

In the text edit toolbox there is a checkbox with "background" next to it.
Is there anyway that I can turn the tick off permanently.
Since I have updated to 3.7 everytime I open up my text edit toolbox to add text to a page, the background box is ticked again.

I've had the same problem but just assumed it was me!:o Since I unchecked last (last week) it has now stayed unchecked.

I haven't been so lucky! I never had problems with text background until about two weeks ago, and now the checkmark (tick) goes on anytime I'm editing text. It also does that when I'm adding new text to a new page--not all the time, just some of the time! Was this related to a recent "up"date? :confused:

I find this terribly annoying, and I always have a student or two yelling at me to reset the text background. I've tried removing the check mark while editing and without editing--neither seems to make a difference. Anyone have any new insights? ????

I wonder... Is this just a Mac issue??

I have also been having this problem since I upgraded drivers on Mac... I say that, but I honestly don't remember it happening before I upgraded the drivers on my Mac, but if very well could have been before that as well...

I'm still having the problem with my tick. I'm not using a Mac, I'm using Vista.

I also see this, and I'm using a Mac. I've noticed that other preferences also seem to reset themselves at the same time as the background tick, particularly those for Design Mode. I've saved a profile with preferences that has everything the way I want it. When I notice that the text box background has turned itself on again (or that any of the other preferences have changed), I reload the profile.

Not a fix, but it's easier than going through all the preferences again ...:D

I have to use a PC so it's not a Mac related problem. But it seems to be OK on my machine now.
