Hi!
Thanks Louise. As you've pointed out, when I have two recepients, set the first to contain something and the second to contain nothing, it won't work if I take the object out of the first straight into the second. What we have to do is get it back to the place it came from and, then, put it into the second.
I don't know whether I couldn't find a thread talking about this. In case there are no threads explaining this, wouldn't it be better if the tutorials could give this hint from the start since this IS a key issue in the building of containers?
Second, in case I invite a student to the board, what if he tries to move the object straight to the second box and it gets all messed up.? ( I guess it makes the "spell" vanish a little since I have to warn him not to try a second move directly to another position) Maybe it should be something to be addressed in a further version of the software.
Thanks
zeca

The online tutorials are limited for time and I'm not sure about it being a key issue - its the first time I've come across it.

If anyone messes up your page for whatever reason there's always the page reset button which will restore the page to its last saved version.

I think it's also wise to be careful how you design your page. too.

I might agree on the reset button being a lifesaver but as to the information not being key (???) .
I did the right thing and had to spend a long time trying to figure out what went wrong, checking the box options
several times when It shouldn't be necessary if such information were available.
Thanks, anyway

Apologies. I didn't mean to offend. I was trying to explain that there are only so many options tutorials can cover and there are many ways to design a flipchart page with containers in such complex software as Studio. Although an issue may be key to a particular user, in the wider perspective it is only the second time I've come across it.

Hi David,
I've got your point, thanks a lot

I've come across this too. I usually get round it by having the object (usually a number in my case) set to "drag a copy". That way there's always a second copy of the object to put into another container. Or have I missed the point? Only problem I have is if the copy isn't contained, instead of jumping back, it jumps to top, left hand corner. Tried putting the bin there in the hope it would just "jump in" and delete itself - but not surprisingly it didn't work. I may try a "top layer" object in the corner, so things jump behind it as a work-around next.

There are some very odd and unexpected effects when working with containers. I've seen this jumping to the top left but haven't seen a resolution.

When training on containers and creating containers myself where I want objects to be returned if not contained, I find the safest option is to get the contained object to the place you want it returned to before setting up properties on anything.

I'd be interested to know what's in the Object Properties of the object created by drag a copy.

This is what I put together quickly just after I posted the above. Seems to work...

(the objects that don't contain jump to top left behind the "cover" -Drag them out from behind to see what I mean)

That is a very cool activity! I would have never thought to use "Drag a Copy" with containers for an activity like that! Mind if i borrow?
