I registered some votes on the new ACTIVote system with the USB hub. I registered number one and then marked it number one and did this for all of the votes. At the end when I tested them number one was showing up as number 20 and other weird things. In other words they are not being named properly. Is this a glitch with this particular hub or is there a work around? Thanks

I feel your pain! I did the EXACT SAME THING this spring. Then I thought (and said) several non-G-rated words. The new votes do not work the same way as the old ones. You can register then all simultaneously so it doesn't name them in order like the old ones.

I "named" them the number I wanted. I believe (I've slept since then), that I wrote down which one was which according to the table. Then I went into the chart and named then the number I wanted. So number 20 for you would be A1. Then you have to push test I think and press a button on the votes you have renamed. It will then keep the name you want.

Good luck! :-/

You have to register them with those three letters. THEN you go back and name them. Make sure you click activote 1 first, then activote 2, then 3. That puts them in the correct order. You can push any letter 1 time.

I've had difficulty with 2 teachers with the same problem. Activotes numbered and registered in order. Later different votes showing different numbers. Also, the teacher came back and tried to activate the votes within a flipchart and it showed that they were not there (nothing in the drop down menu). When you go into Devices, it lists them all there as registered. We shut Activstudio down and reopened and they were there, but goofy numbers (#1 (numbered and registered came in as #20, no rhyme or reason.))

We have removed them all and reregistered but still no consistency.

Holli is correct about this, so you cannot register them in order. The order in which the votes are registered does not relate to the vote number and is not stored on the device. To number the vote use 'Name' or 'Name all' in device registration.

After I took what you all said and had time to play with someones votes I can up with a short flipchart that can walk you though registering your votes. This may help your teachers or yourself if you are still struggling with naming the ACTIVotes. Hope I can help someone since everyone always helps me with my problems.
Thanks,

:confused: I tried to register Activotes 2.4 Hz on both ActivPrimary & ActivStudio Mac OS v. 10.5.5 Leopard. The very first thing I had observed to the new Hub there was a blinked in red for a quick second when it was inserted to the USB port, then no activation at all. There were PREFERENCES Error messages from both ActivPrimary & ActivStudio with ver. 3.6 Build 117. ...ACTIVOTES REGISTRATION IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR INTEL-BASED MAC?

Another trial I had done was, I tried to use/insert the previously registered hub with a PC OS to my Intel-based Mac .. it shows the same error message.

Please help to solve this technical problem, otherwise, those Inte-based Mac users will be needing urgent ????, showing :( feels :mad: with non-stop :rolleyes:!

[clap]Hi David Fhu,

{} Finally, I got the solution to the problem I posted. Based on my actual trials. I tried to work and comparing the registration of ActiVotes on 2 MACBOOKs as follows:

(1) Intel-based MACBOOK (which I owned)::confused:

Please be informed that the hub is new, there was just a blink of red light. But, the Hub is getting warm, so it means that there is power coming in to the Hub, but nothing at all, no activation signal.

I could not make any registration for the ActiVotes :(. There was a preferences message command (see attached)

(2) PC-based MACBOOK (installed with WIndows XP/VISTA):;)

Even the Hub that has been used to register in a (e.g. Toshiba) PC OS, when the Hub was inserted in a MACBOOK PC-Based USB Port, it recognizes and retained those registrations codes of each ActiVotes what were being registered.

CONCLUSION(s) (might be TRUE or FALSE) use your ActiVotes now! 1-2-3::rolleyes: ????

Using the same hub registered from either PC or MAC (PC-based) platform is possible for both, as long as MAC (PC-Based)[clap].
No need to have separate Hubs for each OS.+wave+

Activotes registration on Intel-based Mac is an error :(!

SOLUTION(s)::rolleyes:

ActivClassroom solutions peripherals should/must be "friendly" to any OS or Platforms PC, MAC, or even Linux (?) :confused: Please reminded that users (customers) they have their own chosen OS/Platform.
Further trial/testing must be done and inform Promethean Partners clwn:rolleyes:

Thanks James for the flipchart. It certainly was helpful. The new votes are nice once they are registered, but a bit tedious to get set up initially. Thanks again.

Josephine

This sounds like you need to contact Technical Support as Activotes have been working perfectly well on both Mac and PCs for most people. So phone your Technical Support in Asia. The forum isn't really the place to discuss individual techical issues as there are too many variables in set ups to give a reliable answer.
