Can you use the new slate with old votes? What are the options and/or limitations? Are there any work arounds? I know you can use the new votes with old slate, but I'm not sure about the above scenerio. Thanks!

Hi,
I think it is the same as new votes with an older slate. The new slate is a 2,4 GHZ equipment so you should use the 868 mhz vote with the wireless connection of the activboard and the new slate is connected via 2,4 GHZ of the new activhub [clap]
Hope this thinking is correct, because we haven't the new slates in germany yet

The old votes "talk to" the board as does the old slate.
The new slate and the new votes "talk to" a hub rather than the board.
The old votes and the old slate could also talk to an old hub which looked rather like an Activote with a wire coming out of it.
Provided you have the right piece of equipment to receive the signal you should be fine.
ie the old slate can talk to a board or an old hub as can the old votes. 2.4 votes and slates can only talk to the new hubs which look rather like large memory stick.
This is written to help others hence my underlining the detail to ensure people are clear!! +wave+
Shawnam,
In brief - yes you can!
I would register the oldest technology first (ie the Activotes in your case), then plug in your hub (you will have to close the software down first and reopen it afterwards) and register your new Activslate.

Thank you all! I think I'm clear now.

Of course, the disadvantage of this solution is it will need to take up 2 USB port on your PC, or laptop.
Correct me, if I am wrong. As the below method had not been tested at my location.
The advantage is you can make use of the Activote and Activslate at the same time, since they are not using the same hub.

Thanks for this tip, however the new slate with the ACTIVhub happened to get registered first and now I can't get to an "older" version of the registration screen to register my old (non 2.4gh) votes. Any suggestions besides removing the program and starting over from scratch?
Thanks for the ideas,

To get the old registration screen, just unplug the hub, then re-start the software. It should bring up the old registration screen.

Scott is right. You can also register the votes first (to see the old registration screen), then plug in the hub and register the new slate (and you'll get the new registration screen).
Good luck
