I'm not a Mac user, but I'm trying to learn. I am having trouble using the Quick Search option in the Resource Library. When I click on the search icon and type in my keyword, nothing happens. Is there a step that I am missing????

Have you reindexed? If not, I'm not sure what's wrong.

This was their first visit to the Resource Library. They wanted to investigate the Search feature. They clicked on the Search icon, typed in a Keyword, and nothing happened. We tried many different keywords, but still nothing came up. I wasn't sure if I should of had them click on something else or if I was doing something wrong.

If anyone might know an answer I would appreciate it. The Resource Library is so massive, I would hate to leave these new users hanging out in the wind. :o

Hi Lu Anne,

I think this might be one for tech support. What version of the Mac software are you using?

They had just installed 3.6. The weird thing was that it was happening on all the computers and they had all the Resources for the library. It was only the Quick Search that was not working. I will try Tech Support.

Thanks!:)

I'm also a Mac user, but I haven't seen the Quick Search act like this before. If I haven't re-indexed since adding resources, I usually get an error message telling me that I need to re-index in order to use the Quick Search. This can be done in the Activresource Manager. (Found in Activextras in the main menu). You can use the regular search without re-indexing, but it's much slower. Have you tried to do a regular search?

The other problem that I've seen is that the resources are visible in the Finder, but not in the Resource Library. The only way I've found to fix that is to re-install the resources, telling Activstudio to overwrite them when it tells me they're already there.

Just in case anyone else has had a similar problem. I got in touch with Tech Support and they suggested that the teachers go into ACTIVresource Manager and reindex before trying to use the Quick Search feature in the Resource Library. I have not heard back from the teachers yet to see if the problem has been resolved. However, no news is good news. Right.....? :)
