The Planet team is working on some new themes including one for space. There seems to be a lot of great submitted flipcharts but if you're hoarding any, please do share!

You are probably aware that each theme also has links to websites related to that theme. We've done some research and found some great ones, but I'm sure we may be missing some obvious ones.

Here's a sampling of what we have found so far. If you find others or have comments on these, please share your ideas with us!

Thanks, Caryn,

I love the flash movies I found in a section called Planet 10.

Thanks, any others?

Lisa

1.0 Solar System:

Explore the planets, comets and asteroids on an interactive virtual fly-through. Zoom in close on a particular planet or choose a different orbit view to see the whole system from afar. The data sheets let you discover more about some of the elements that make up our Solar System.

2.0 World Builder:

Think you could create the perfect World? Here’s your chance to try. With World Builder, you call the shots. Work your way through each of the creation screens, but make your choices wisely, only certain conditions will ensure your planet is a successful place to grow and evolve.

Also check out http://www.shatters.net/celestia/ for free software to explore the planets!
Don't forget also Google Earth allows you to explore the planets as well.

There is a very cool free download called stellarium. It show the night sky from any location (that is set). You can turn on the star names, constellation outlines, and constellation pictures. It's at http://www.stellarium.org/

http://sketchup.google.com/ and download this... design your own space stations, planets or vehicles. There is one space station already in the sketchup galleries http://picasaweb.google.com/gallery.sketchup

Also there is a couple of "space" banners at my new site bannersandawards.com Look under the science section of the banners pages. Good for putting above display areas etc.

Another idea is to use the free Lego Digital Designer.... build a space vehicle in 3D etc. on your board. http://ldd.lego.com/download/

Great content!!! Kids will love it. Thank you!

Wish it would play bigger though. Do you think the video will be big enough for the students to see on an Activboard?

Ooh, I love the interactive flash files on this site!! They should work very well on an Activboard! {}

Thanks for sharing!!!:D

I have already created it as a resource in Planet, too.

Here's the link:
