Automagic Sound

A random thought came to me this evening as I was playing with my twins. I think there has been interest in a way for sounds to play when a particular page opens. Someone else may have already offered this so I hope I am not being redundant.

Video placeholders can be set to play automatically when a page opens. Apple's iMovie will export a mov file even if it only has audio in it. I imagine that Windows software can do the same thing. This video-less movie can be inserted and become an automagic sound player. It is handy that placeholders can be resized to fit the need of a particular project, and even hidden behind other objects.

I am attaching a very basic flp to demonstrate.

It's not exactly the "two actions on one object" some have asked about at vairous times, but I can imagine using this method to reward a choice.

One page could pose a question with several options (objects or text). Each option could have a "Go to page..." option attached to it and that page could have a self-starting sound as well as a visual response on it. There could also be a link back to the original page or on to another. This makes me think of some "choose your own adventure" books I have in my class library.

Does this only work with files with the .mov extension? I've been trying and having difficulty with other files. Someone can reply if they were successful in creating a similar example. ????
