I'm an Activ teacher, and I'm working on my master's degree. For my technology in education class we have to do a proposal for new technology for our school. My group voted to do our proposal on Activboards since I have experience with them. We are trying to show that having Activboards increases student engagement and standardized test scores in math. We need to have research to back that up. Have any of you seen improvements in math test scores and student engagement? Please make sure to include what school you're from. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!????

I know you are looking for secondary, but I have some elementary/primary scores that might help... I work at Maree Farring Elementary School in Baltimore, MD... and I have more data than this, but this is all I can "post" here, if that makes sense... feel free to email or PM me if you want more info or anything!

You may want to check out this link:

http://www.Prometheanworld.com/us/server/show/nav.1072

There are several whitepapers and research reports located there such as this one.

The Challenge Project Grant

The Challenge Project Grant for the Northshore School District in WA has provided district teachers with technology that has revolutionized their classrooms including Promethean Activboards, projectors and document cameras. The purpose of the evaluation is to determine the extent to which teachers have implemented the technology provided by the grant into their classrooms and to determine the extent to which the use of the equipment has the potential to positively impact teaching and learning.

In addition, try looking at the case studies here:

The one I find very interesting is the one from Eagle's Height Academy. "The school moved up a noteworthy two levels on the Ohio Department of Education’s Content Standard’s scale from Academic Emergency, to Academic Watch, to Continuous Improvement, in just two years."

Hope this helps!

I will be doing a presentation in about 3 weeks on using an interactive whiteboard to help students prepare for our new National Numeracy Assessment, so if you send anything to jllochm could you please send it to me as well? Thanks!

Cheers

This might be another useful document from a school evaluating the use of the technology in Maths... Highlights a common journey with technology from initial suspicions to a clear understanding of the positive impacts and the importance of training:
