I am currently teaching ActivStudio in my district and part of the time today was spent signing up for and exploring Promethean Planet. A lot of the participants loved the Resource Packs and went about saving them correctly. They went through the Dashboard, Activresource Manager, clicked on Import to the Library and proceeded with the pack from there. While some of the backgrounds went in the My Backgrounds, some of the others were saving in strange places. It took a lot of navigating to find where it was finally saved. I also think it will be harder for the participants to find it in the future from where the resource pack is being saved. Any suggestions?

The different types of resources will save in different places - so backgrounds go to backgrounds but clipart goes to clipart etc
I find the best place to browse is in Resource manager. You can see everything and work out what is where. With a little practice navigation becomes easier and easier. Without the resource manager I would miss out on loads of wonderful stuff because I forget it is even there! +wave+

Does this happen after you have re-indexed?

Once you have installed a resource pack in resource manager, the resources will be in your resource library.
The resource library is simply a huge folder structure of files on your system.
Each new resource pack will add more folders and files to your library.

After adding more packs, go back to Studio and look in Shared Resources, eg Shared Backgrounds, collections, images, etc and you will discover more folders in the Resource Library Treeview.

Re-indexing allows the 'Quick Search' facility in Studio to locate resources in your library. If you don't re-index (in Resource Manager), any resources added from downloaded resource packs will not be found using Quick Search.

Here is a file that should help teachers find where those files are in the Resource Library.[clap]

excellent info., now I know why a search comes up empty even though I know I D-Loaded it.

Cwadley: Thanks For the Word Doc. That will really come in handy.
