View Full Version : Animated Gif won't work

I downloaded an animated gif to use as my background and it won't "sparkle" anymore when I copied it to my flip chart. It's one of those glitter background pages everybody uses for myspace. Any ideas on how to make it work on the flipchart without recording it? (Even if I did record it I'd have to do every background for 10+ minutes.)

Thanks,

You will need to insert the animated gif as a video placeholder for it to work.

Yes, that's right!

Find the animated file you like and save it.
Open your flipchart and right click on the page
Click Insert> Video Placeholder
Find the animated file you saved
Check 'loop' and 'Start Automatically' so your animation will begin as soon as you turn to that page...and keep animating!

Here is a flipchart with directions on how to use animated .gifs with flipcharts. I didn't make it - it was given to me - but I have tried the directions and it has worked!!

Good luck:p

Glad I found this. But I still have a problem. I download the animated gif and save it into downloads. When I right click and open the "insert other file link" (I think that is what it said-I closed the flipchart) the box opens for me to click the radio buttons. But the buttons for "placeholder" is grayed out as is the one for "starts automatically". If I select "insert video placeholder" and then try to select the gif in my downloads folder, the file I want is grayed out.

I have no trouble using animated gifs (specifically animation factory) on my pc at school or my former laptop-also a pc. I have come to hate pc's for a variety of reasons to recently got a mac. I hope using these animated pix is doable since I paid for the subscription out of my pocket.

Thanks for your help.

I think you need to choose 'Insert Video'.

The animated Gifs, e.g. butterflies, sometimes come with a white area wherein they move, once activated.
Is there any way this area can be made translucent?

You also need to make sure that your Actions are turned on.

And as far as I know, the animated GIFs do not work on the Mac side.

By the way, now that I know how to insert gifs, is there a way to make the gif background match the background or make it transparent? (I know that you can change the flipchart background to match the gif) I thought that I had read the solution on the forum months ago but cant find it anywhere?

Try ActivInspire

My Beta version crashes when I try to insert animated gifs.
Are you saying that it is going to be possible to change the background of gif?
