How do you add more colors to the toolbar? My toolbar only shows 8 (I know you can right click and it shows more) but I've seen others whose show more right on the toolbar????

Kelly,
Hello, to add more colors I go to the tool bar and click on the menu tab.
go to customize
then to colors
then there should be 8, 16, or 24.
Take your pick and then they should be added to your toolbar.
I hope this helps.+wave+

Once you've got the palette to the right size, you can change any of the individual colours by (a) right clicking on the colour you want to change and choosing from the paletter or browsing to the 'rainbow'; (b) choosing the colour pciker, clicking on the colour you want to change then clicking the colour dropper on a colour in an image for example.

Thanks David for sharing the tip about rt clicking. I totally forgot about that. I will need to use that more. I love color and use the color picker quite often. Rt clicking on the color may save me some time. This is another perfect example of why the forum is such a great resource for people to learn from.
Thanks for sharing![clap][clap]

Just be careful changing the palette colours too much - the only way to re-set the palette requires re-setting the entire toolbar. If you have altered any other toolbar settings, you will lose those as well :(
There is another thread about this where someone has posted a screenshot of the original colour palette so you can use the colour picker to re-set to original colours.
I usually change the white or black square if I am using the colour picker for a particular hue - it is easy to change that square back to white/black after using that custom colour.

That is really good to know because, I may need that. I have learned so much about colors in such a short time. My collegues think I am the queen of Promethean but it really is just from reading this and playing on the planet. Thanks so much for the information. I love to share with other teachers, this is a perfect new lesson.
Thanks again[clap]{}

I change my colours quite frequently but I tend to change the same individual swatches. I always keep one swatch the same colour as my default page background colour.

I would agree with that strategy. Although I don't always do that, I think it is a good idea to "customize" a certain color all the time and leave all of the "standard" type colors at the top alone so that you'll always have access to colors you need often like red, yellow, black, white...
