Hi.

Recently I notice a situation as below:

When we registered 32 Activotes(2.4GHz) to an Activhub(2.4GHz) on a system with AS V3.6.14 and Driver Version 4.1.13.18 on Win XP SP3 and we selected only 10 Activotes to answer question.
It will not select the Activote as in order.
Whenever I call for the first time voting when I only select 10 Activote to be activate, it will show all the 32 Activotes. Only the second question, it will show 10 Activote available. How can I over come this issue? Anyone have any idea?

Thank in advance.

Another problem is when I click "OK" after changing the device name, a box pop up with this message on it.

"Device names in the table have altered.
One or more of the device names may not have been sent to the actual devices.
If you exit the program now, you may lose some of the names from the table.
Do you wish to continue?"

My question is how do I save the device name that I had change?

When you select only 10 votes you do not select which 10 will respond. That is why all 32 are shown, but only 10 will be accepted. Next time, because it knows which 10 are in use, it will only show these 10.

When you name devices make sure you press a letter key on the devices. This is to wake them up to get their new name. You may still get the warning as this is just a reminder.

I am hoping someone can help with this problem with Actifvote. I have used them many times with many different boards in our district, but when using it at a high school. This message came up:
"Your present hardware and software combination is not permitted with this country."
USA, channel 1 was selected, all the Activotes registered and tested correctly.
Thanks for any help you can send my way.
Attached is a screen shot of message.

I would turn everything off, board, computer... and then restart. That might fix it.

Cristina,

That's the same msg you'd get if you clicked the Activote icon in a flipchart when the board and the computer aren't connected. It's as if the computer isn't recognizing that you're connected. It's happened to me before. What I had to do was shut everything down, restart the computer after a few minutes, and try again. That solved the problem for me, so I hope it works for you. You could also try this:
1. Go to Control Panel
2. Click Performance and Maintenance
3. Click System, then System Properties
4. Click Device Manager
5. Go to Human Interface Device, find the Promethean Serial Driver
6. Right click on it and select "Update driver"
The system will walk you through the steps. You can restart afterward and the problem should be fixed.

Cristina,

When you click for the update, it will open the Hardware Update Wizard.

* Click "No" at the step that asks if you want Windows to search for software thru Windows Update. Then click "Next".
* Click "Install from a specific location", then click "Next".
* Click "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install", then click "Next".
* Select "Promethean Serial Board Driver", then click "Next".
* You will see a folder icon and pages moving across similar to when you copy files from one folder to another.
* The system will tell you when it has finished the hardware update. Click "Finish" and it will ask that you restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Hello, Cristina. Like Leteshia says, this is most likely a connection issue. That being said, sometimes the board will be recognized and you'll still get this issue, when this happens I'd suggest cycling power to the board. Since this is also a useful troubleshooting step for the connection issue, I'd start there.

Another possibility is that the board is connected and recognized by the driver but not by the software. This can happen if the board is not connected when you open the software. In this instance, Lisa's suggestion should resolve, and if that appears to be the case just ensure that the board is connected before opening the software going forward.

Just to add something else Cristina! +wave+

I had this and nothing seemed to work. I had the latest driver etc, turning off and on did nothing, so I had to uninstall the latest driver, then reinstall it again. Problem solved, worked fine. Just to bear in mind!
