Some of you have said that you miss looking at the "recent" resources (and I miss that too.) But I've found that the new Advanced Search option can be even more powerful because you can search for specific grades/key stages and subject areas of recent flipcharts.
In the attached screenshot you can see that I've clicked on "Advanced Search" (top of any resource page) and selected to display:
Flipcharts
Grades: K-2 and 3-5
Subject area: Mathematics
Submitted: in the last MonthYou can also search for recent weblinks or resource packs like that as well.
This link will also take you to a FAQ about this.

Great idea!

I agree with you, Lisa, I really like the advanced search [clap] I played around with it last night and found some resources I hadn't seen before.

I'm liking the advanced search too, and I'm really loving the flipchart viewer! What a great way to quickly view a flipchart! [clap] As I'm getting to know the new resources section, I noticed there's no search by flipchart author or "more flipcharts by this author" function as we had in the last Planet version. Do you know if this will be making a comeback or am I just missing it somewhere? I also liked the view flipcharts by state or state standard but noticed it's not available in the advanced search. Perhaps I haven't explored enough?

I don't think they're there yet, but I see what I can find out about the Search by author and State standards. I heard something like 99% of the searches in Planet previously did not use the "standards" search but the keyword search. Did you use it much?

Hi Lisa,
Actually no, I didn't use the standards much but I did check out the flipcharts by state quite often. If that feature doesn't come back, I won't be too disappointed though. But I would be really bummed if the "more by this author" feature is gone. :( I used that a lot! Thanks for checking!

Hi Lisa
I would have to say I also use the state and by author quite often. Thanks for checking.[clap]

Advanced Search is Great! UNLESS you live in New Zealand :(
Couldn’t understand why I wasn’t seeing the Advanced Search option until I re-set the Country to UK :p
this may help people in other locations see this great feature in the interim period while site development continues
We are a long way from the centre of the Promethean Universe, but please include us in this new feature or we might stop playing rugby with you :D
I did even think about emigrating to Anomyous Proxy, but they don’t get Advanced Search either..

Hi All
Give us a break Guys! :):):)
We fully intend to bring back more by this author, state standards search (embedded in this site) and a rake of other cool ways of getting to resources and knowing as much as possible about them before you download them.
We do have some teething problems that we expected to have when you bring two distinct sites together - the search tool right now is good but its going to be great!
The new flipchart preview system is working quite well - though we have found a few resources submitted where for some reason it did not generate the screen images - we are working on fixing that and we will run through those that failed to generate the screens to bring them upto date.
We fully intend to support other countries and in order to do so we do need to start making some further changes to how we handle and classify the resources.
We hope you will have a little paitience with us and watch for enhancements over the next few weeks and months and hey give us a shout out guys - you will not believe the amount of time this site was actually built in - but then you do have a good team looking after you and I for one am very proud and honoured to be part of that team and working with great people! Did I mention we won the World Didac Award for your site [clap][clap][clap]

To Cliff and the entire Planet team~
Congratulations on the DIDAC award guys![clap][clap] I think we REALLY appreciate ALL the hard work, sleepless nights, and countless hours the Planet team worked on making our Planet even better! The very reason I visit this site so much is due to the support from the forum and knowing that our concerns are listened to. :) Of course when anything changes we want to make sure some things stay the same ;). But reading your post that more great things are yet to come puts me at ease and I will just sit back and enjoy everything this new and improved Planet has to offer! {}

I'm lovin' everything I have seen... as with anything new and improved it takes some time to relearn. It takes the Promethean Crew to make adjustments, just like it takes those of us who rely on the Planet to help us to renavigate to our fav places. I have never lauched a website or new and improved website that everything worked like it did.
I can only say
Great Job Guys!!!!! The site looks wonderful. Any and all awards are well earned.

Me AGAIN...
I was doing an advanced search as Lisa suggested to find the most recent additions. On my secreen the section of the page the says Step 1 Step 2 and Step 3 over laps the bottom of my advanced search screen. It covers up the bottom selecetions_ I can see them below, but with the other information on top I can access the options there. Any suggestions on what I can do to make this better on my end, of is it something that has to be resolved as things improve???

You know, I have had the same thing happen with the advanced search. In some cases, it seems to be kind of transparent or mixed in with the stuff that was there before I clicked on Advanced Search.
I tried access advanced search from the resource pack and weblinks section and it SEEMS to work better but I don't know why!

Yes we have seen the transparent issue and we will get that fixed just as soon as we get back to reality - the planet team have been traveling over the last week and a few of us managed to grab a few days R&R after the rebuild and its unveiling in San Antonio at NECC.
Once back with my technical team on Monday I have a list of issue that need resolving plus I did get some greta feedback from visitors to NECC with suggestions for improvements.
The planet team want to hear from anyone who is prepared to feedback comments and suggestions regarding the new site. In particular our regular forum posters are encouraged to feedback since your comments are important to us, as you have said a lot of the changes are a direct result of member suggestion.
We know we have provided a larger sized cleaner site with improved navigation and sections, though we do appreciate we may have issues to resolve and we will listen to your comments.

Has anyone else noticed that the advanced search has disappeared? Maybe it's away getting fixed:D

Thanks Lisa.
I was wondering what is the best way to report any "glitches" we find. I don't like constantly posting what may be interpreted as negitive feedback on the forum when the team have done such a FANTASTIC job.

I agree Caryn - although it can be helpful to know that others have encountered a problem too.
Knowing that the problem has been flagged for the team to look into is reassuring, and we can quietly wait until the solution is sorted.

OK - I admit it - I am definitely a Digital Migrant (with a paper accent...)
but can someone explain what "greta feedback" means?
I have heard of Beta testing, and audio feedback...
Thanks,

Great to see the advanced search back up and running[clap]
Only problem I'm having now is that although I can find the most recent flips - I don't seem to be able to open them past the thumbnail preview page in order to download them. No One else has commented on this so I was wondering if the rest of you can download O.K.?

I had this problem until i realised that you don't click on the thumbnail to download, but actually just to the right a bit, I think where the title is...
Try it...

Kudos to the Planet Team. It just keeps getting better and better! [clap][clap] I was wondering if there has been any thought to allow us to organize our advanced search -> week or month by date rather than the current mode of alphabet. Could that be a possibility? Maybe I have missed that option but so far the flipcharts that I have looked for are organized in alphabet order I think. Love the site. {} I visit it everyday and keep finding new things.

ordering search results by date, most popular, and a new item I am not going to tell you about yet is coming soon!

Clicking on the thumbs and link is a little intermittent at the moment - you should be able to click on any part - we will continue to refine it until its right!
Hi Cliff,
Would it be possible to add "search for featured flipcharts" ?

Craig - thanks for the tip[clap] - it seems to work for me. Cliff nice to hear you are working on the problem[clap]
