We are having problems adding animation to our Mac software. We know how to do it on our PC but mac won't work. It won't let us press on placeholder - ???

I am not sure if this has been resolved.

Last time I checked, I was unable to embed some flash file animation inside ActivStudio for Mac.
However there is no such problems on the PC platform.

Until this is fixed, a workaround would be to link the flash file from the flipchart and play it with a browser like Internet Explorer.

I'm running Activstudio 3.6 build 117 and it works fine for me.
You just right-click on the page and select Insert>Flash placeholder, select the file you want and OK.

can you try to see if embedding flash works on the Mac version if the flash file reads an xml file?
The issue was with embedding flash files like Dan Bunker's random generator.

Unfortunately I don't think this is possible. I tried Dan Bunker's random.flp and the animation and sound worked fine as did the button but I got and error message when trying to load the data.

I think this could be due to the Flash programming as I know that there are slightly different file structures between PC and Mac for calling files dynamically when coding in Flash, and I suspect this is why flash objects such as Dan's wont work on the Mac.

It is possible to call an xml file in Activstudio on the Mac using Applescript. There was one I saw in the forums from Jos which incorporated the Hangman game. you could change the words for the game via the xml file.
